Wisconsin Badgers '26-'27 season: Finishing what we started

I'll take it. That was a burner, and Bucky dominated the 2nd and 3rd periods and even OT. Let's finish them off on Sat!

Also, listening to Clymer drone on about MN while not even knowing sometimes WI players just gets old. Be professional, you bozo.

I'm fired up and just watched the highlight reel from when Bucky won the Broadmoor Trophy in 2013. I know we talk a lot of crap about the cycle of the Eaves teams, but I put that team in the same cat as the Reinprecht/Heatley team. Both super talented and just got completely caught with their pants down at the worst time in the NCAAs.

The 2012-13 team was pretty deep and, while not the most overpowering, was super fun to watch.

Back when you could buy the sports package on cable and watch as much college hockey on all the Fox Sports regoinal networks you could possibly want. Those were the days.

Not to be the asshole blaming the refs, but maybe a soft 5 minute major and ejection for Deering.

With that being said, I can’t blame the refs for erring on the side of safety after last weekend, and I’m glad Whipple wasn’t hurt from the play.

If he would have been put head first into the boards, then absolutely. He went in parallel. It def was a penalty for boarding, but the end result wasn't a safety disaster, and that's what should make the difference between a 2 min boarding call and a 5 min major, much less a game misconduct.

Wisconsin looked every bit as great as their ranking! It’s been years since I’ve seen a Wisconsin team so thoroughly outplay the rodents.

Hopefully it’s more of the same Saturday. Usually when you outshoot your opponent 42-17 you’re going to win about 4-1.

But Di Pasquo was out of his mind last night.

When Di Pasquo's helmet "fell off" last night, it appeared to me the shot hit him square in the mask and the puck rebounded out...and then he flipped his mask off on purpose to get a whistle.

Anyone else catch that?

Yeah there should have been delay of game. He clearly flung his mask off.

That's what I thought! I jumped at the TV yelling, "hey you can't do that!"

Anyway beyween commenting on that and the BTN+ student announcers, I caught hell on the GPL X Account haha. Ill wear it as a Badge(r) of honor. Those guys really are blinded by their own rose glasses as to how badly WI outplayed them for 50 of 60mins.

On to tonight!! No less than 3 points will do against the dirt rats.

Game day!

Take it away Carl!

Let’s go Badgers!

Anyone else notice Mike Hastings on the bench Thursday night? He was the calmest I’ve seen him so far. Almost zen-like. The players were talking to each other on the benches like they were mini-Hastings. It was just a joy to watch. The game and entire season thus far has been a real example of what happens when you have a talented roster, great coach and all the players and coaches are bought in!

And you can see why Adam Burish and the 06 guys (and other alumni like Steve Alley) are so supportive of Hastings.

Having Freshman being steely-eyed and all in while also seriously contributing is a pretty massive step. It's a fever dream when the players coach themselves to the standard set by the staff.

On Badger Hockey Digest, Posik interviews Idzan. He asked him about not transferring after little ice time last year. Makes me like this kid even more.

When a strap beaks or comes loose, they take the mask off to stop the play. It's a safety thing.

I've seen this happen before in the NHL and at other levels.

Not sure what the official rule is or what happened on the play in question, but I've definitely seen it before and it's never been penalized that I can recall.
