After that he pretty much left the pop world, but he went on to have a great career writing songs for Broadway musicals

He seems to have been a talent who produced real work, not trash. Welp, one fewer, while John Williams and ALW are still collecting checks.

I have to do this.

Back in 2010, I googled the name of my niece Emily Baer, and all of the top matches were for the then 8- or 9- year-old child prodigy composer and pianist Emily Bear. I have been following her career ever since, sporadically at first and more frequently since she graduated HS at age 15.

The 5-year-old Emily Bear with John Williams behind the stage of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra https://www.instagram.com/p/CZugLBLvGdu/. She was there with her piano teacher, Mary Sauer, principal keyboardist of the CSO.

Emily and her composing partner Abigail Barlow meeting ALW in London in 2021 https://www.instagram.com/p/CWyWGS9ribS/ and https://www.instagram.com/p/CX1G2-vIfH_/ where ALW is playing the part of Julie Andrews from the Netflix series Bridgerton. This is part of one of Barlow and Bear's songs from their Grammy-winning album.

Emily's Wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_Bear which needs updating. E.g., it is missing the fact that she is one of nine composers of the film Behemoth! which will be released in December https://www.instagram.com/p/DdIANn0P8WM/ and will be shown at the New York Film Festival in early October.

I recognize the name Duncan Sheik (sp?) but I swear I've never heard his song, which is odd considering that according to the Professor or Rock it spent 55 consecutive weeks on the Hot 100.

He won two Tony Awards for the groundbreaking work, Spring Awakening, in 2007. He won the Tony for Original Music Score and Orchestrations. Spring Awakening won a total of eight Tonys including Best Musical. All of his work is outlined in the link Kepler shared.

He composed original music for the 2002 New York Shakespeare Festival production of Twelfth Night.

He composed the music for Alice by Heart, inspired by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and originally presented in 2012 at the Royal National Theatre in London.

He wrote the music and lyrics to the 2013 musical adaptation of American Psycho. Which, um, not good. Ya like Huey Lewis and the News?

He prepared the music for the 2016 Washington DC Shakespeare Theatre Company production of The Taming of the Shrew. Oh fuck I saw that. There was music?

And he did a lot of stuff to pay bills. He could probably even get a table at Dorsia.

Oh, this is his big hit. Yeah, I've heard it. Totally harmless ear worm.

My brother worked on Saved By The Bell: The New Class. Said Dennis Haskins was a really good guy with a big heart. He had given out a pen holder to all the writers that said Writer's Block on it to all the writers, gave one to my brother as well even though he was just a script supervisor because he wanted my brother to feel included. He still has it. Nice to know there were some good people from that cast.

Jim Bakker of Jim and Tammy Faye fame. That POS made 120 million dollars a year back before he got caught diddling his secretary 1

With one of the greatest actors of the day, yet she carries the scene. Hard to watch and so honest. "What for?" slays me every time.

RIP EMS

And probably not just the secretary, like his rival Swaggart (who croaked last year).

I knew a woman in grad school who had slept with Swaggart regularly over several years when she was ahem young. She said he was enthusiastic and loved when she talked dirty. She also said he was a generous and skilled lover, and all around a hoot and lots of fun to be with.

You never know.
