UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Problem was they seemed to have noticed this early on, but were unable to make any adjustments to remedy.

Well, some guys that's just who they are.

I'm hopeful with more time to identify CHL prospects this year there can be more of a meeting of expectations from both sides- the coaching staff identifying the type of guy who can adapt to the college hockey grind, and CHL players knowing more of what the expectations are in the NCAAs.

I was referring more to the coaching staff than the players.

The CHL is unavoidable. Once the door opened, many of the top American prospects bolted for the CHL. The top development path for both the USA and Canada is now CHL to NCAA.

Once the water finds it's level, I suspect the potential attitude of CHL players fixes itself.

Was there any actual reporting done by insiders or other college hockey people that Barr is being looked at by the Gophers, or is that just fan speculation since Ben is from over there?

This is what I found amkirby.
Per, The Daily Gopher:

"The names that have been discussed that immediately move to the top of the list include Minnesota native and Maine Head Coach Ben Barr, former Motzko assistant at both St. Cloud State and Minnesota and now Augustana head coach Garret Raboin, and defending NCAA Champion head coach of Western Michigan and Minnesota native Pat Ferschwiler

Thanks. I guess all we can do for a bit is hope that he stays with us in Orono instead of going home.

It’s hard for me to believe there were better options out there than the guys Maine brought in.
Not disputing the players again, my comment was geared towards the coaching staff was never able to make the necessary adjustments to remedy the problems they were reporting week after week.

Learning experience for everyone I guess.

I am worried about Barr and this Minnesota job. It’s one of the few jobs in the country that would truly be tough to turn down, especially for a guy from Minnesota. Time will tell but I’m sure he’ll be interviewed.
There will be serious competition for that job. Theres alot of Minnesota guys on their short list. Theres no smoke here yet

Alumni want to fund it feel free. Other sports shouldn't have to take a backseat to it.
I have no idea what the bottom-line was, but football was the flagship program during the Red Era, and for a few years before that.

And even last season, Maine was one win short of an NCAA berth...

I hate to suggest shit-canning baseball, but they must spend a bunch of money going South every year and coming home 2-19..? And Orono is an awful venue for Spring baseball in the first place. I sat there in full-blown snowstorms in May!
