UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

If anyone has access to BDN, Larry has his annual season wrapup including comments from Barr. In summary, Barr says the team's poor culture and weak goal tending were too much to overcome. With 13 new players being introduced to college hockey some of them didn't realize how difficult it was going to be. Some played well and then disappeared. He said bringing in another goal tender is risky. Sounds like he is going to stick with those two unless they opt out. He said he would never have such a young team again.
This makes sense, Ive seen people online say that CHL guys were taken aback by the transition to NCAA, and that despite playing more games in the CHL leagues, it was much more demanding in college, and that the training, nutrition, video work, etc were all much more robust in the college ranks than in juniors. I think this was probably a universal thing across the nation, just that Maine had I believe the most CHL imports of any team in D1 so we were the most impacted by it.

Sirman was awful

To be fair to him, he was brought in to back up Scott Darling, but then Darling had his alcohol problems, got suspended a bunch of times, and ultimately dismissed. Sirman ended up needing to cover that bridge year between Darling and Martin Ouellette.

Had one of the oldest teams in hockey east

In regard to larries article, I would say from Barrs quotes he might not be looking so hard at chl players in the near future. They dont seem to fit his culture vision of hard work.
