2026 Winter Olympics

Ivana Wey had a nice tournament for Switzerland, one of their leading point scorers and assisted Muller’s goal. She’s 20, so I wonder if she prefers playing in Europe.

Switzerland and Sweden (less so) both did a great job capitalizing on Czechia’s misstep. Finland seems a lost program right now.

I was more for Sweden as Brandi left Ohio State's program early opposed to three current Buckeye on Team Sweden.
First, her name is Brandli, sometimes spelled Braendli.

She was Ohio State's #1 goalie for three seasons: years ending in 2019, 2020 and the COVID season 2021. In 2021-22 she split time with Amanda Thiele during Thiele's sophomore year, and then transferred to Brown for her 'extra' COVID year.

If you're going to hold it against a player leaving a school early (even if you think leaving after four years is "early"), you're backing the wrong school. LOL

I am out of this thread until later this evening. I will be watching the game later tonight with my one of my sons, wife and daughter. It will be hard staying off of twitter, but I can do it.

3-2 US in OT. Badgers score all the goals. Yeah I'm a Homer, deal with it.

Let's go red! And white and blue! 🇺🇲

I’m blaming auto correct. I just typed Brandli into my phone again and it made it want to be Brandon 🙄. Anyway congrats Brandli, and I believe there is another Buckeye on Switzerland and all the rest too.

USA network is replaying the OT right now.

I think Badger fans and Gopher fans and Buckeye fans should want the winner to alternate between US and Canada. To maximize the number of players you've been rooting for have a gold on their resume.
I understand your thought process, but to my memory, UM has never had a Canadian that made an Olympic roster. Given Canada doesn't have any future NCAA players on today's roster, fans of the Gophs don't need mixed feelings today.

Speaking of, I was idly wondering why Muzerall was never on an Olympic roster. Too much Canadian depth in 2002, etc?

My USA fandom is separate from my Gopher fandom which is separate from my New York Sirens fandom. All other loyalties go out the window depending on the sweater you're wearing.

Re: Muzzy in 2002, in those days, I think there was still a thought, especially in Canada, that the best women's NCAA hockey was played in the East, and any result that suggested otherwise was an outlier.

US is really struggling through the neutral zone.

Better get that figured out right away and get Canada's D chasing.

Dump and chase if needed but half the time USA couldn't even get to the center line.

There was the lazy play by Edwards that has been talked about.

Yep - hate being right in this instance.

Announcers tried to soften it with the "odd bounce" but she was in the wrong position regardless and didn't react quickly.

On the bright side, it seems to have woken us up and we're playing better. Just gotta finish one.

neither team is rolling the lines. For Canada we understand, for US it’s in an interesting choice. You know Simms is good for at least one non call goalie interference goal. Put her out there

To be fair, during a power play, she's more of a 4th forward than a defender. But she wasn't really moving her feet, etc.
