No worries given no other goal for UNH tonight… they said it on the broadcast over 140 minutes straight at the Whitt without a goal… terrible doesnt begin to describe it.Curious to know what they do about the fish when the goal is called back. Has it ever happened before?
My guess is that they snuck the fish onto the back seats of your team bus.Curious to know what they do about the fish when the goal is called back. Has it ever happened before?
No pressure since we locked in double-digit wins over a month ago. We can cruise the remainder of the season now.No worries given no other goal for UNH tonight… they said it on the broadcast over 140 minutes straight at the Whitt without a goal… terrible doesnt begin to describe it.
Over/under on how many more wins we get this year?
You can't be serious with this right? Ryan Conmy was a decoy on a 2 on1 with James Hagens? This is delusional Potty talk while he sniffs his jock.Conmy was the decoy on the Hagens 2 on 1 goal that put BC up by 2 early in the third period. His presence gave the opening for Hagens to score so he did have an impact without getting on the scoreboard.
It still counts. Just ask Snively and Chuck. It still counts.Actually I wasnt a fan then so it doesnt count...
First of all..you didnt get the gist of my original post..It still counts. Just ask Snively and Chuck. It still counts.
Maybe they will get an email telling them not to behave like that again...I was surprised...This might have been the first time in all my years that the student section started "Fire Souza" change. If this is not a sign to the AD, then all of this is hopeless
Third of all it still counts.First of all..you didnt get the gist of my original post..
Second of all...whatever.
NIL money is advertisement and people giving cash so they can give it back to the players. That is why Conmy left, he gets money to go to BC.Reading the Facebook posts about this weekend was interesting. One that stood out was how the fan just lowered his expectations for this program/ team...Another spoke about how disgruntled fans know nothing aboit the landscape of College hockey..saying we are losing due to facilities and lack of NIL funds..not on the coach.
Dan...you have a pretty good handle on how the NIL thing works...is this the real reason we are where we are (which is currently dead last in HE) ? I need to be more educated on this.
First it was the ice was too big...and the facilities are outdated (which I fully support the need to rennovate). Now its we cant attract players due to the lack of enticements etc.
Which is it??? Told that fan that has lowered his expectations seems like the most sane thing to do.
Onto Merrimack.
Sadly, yes it does ... but we move on.Third of all it still counts.
Yeah I have the basic gist of it... I just hate to see this be 'one more thing' UNH uses as an excuse. Still...it's a tough climate out there for sure when your best kids leave for this but..cant blame them?? Money talks...players walk.NIL money is advertisement and people giving cash so they can give it back to the players. That is why Conmy left, he gets money to go to BC.
It is the same with Cy's commercial from the law firm, he does their commercial where he checks the Cat and gets paid for it. Before this was not allowed. If you got to MC on Friday I can tell you all about it.
We just don't have enough to get kids here like other schools
I saw some of the FB posts as well. Trying to take the emotion out of it, I don’t fully buy the “we should lower our expectations” and “we can’t compete because of low NIL money” arguments.Reading the Facebook posts about this weekend was interesting. Great post! I sat next to 2 die hard Union fans at the game this past Nov. I asked them about how things go were going with their new coach. They were thrilled with him and said he was slowly turning things around. We lost that night I didnt stay for the 3rd. So as you say it can be done to me UMass is the best example.I saw some of the FB posts as well. Starting with the “lower expectations” argument, just because we aren’t good now, doesn’t mean that will always be the case. Look across hockey and you will find many cases of teams turning it around ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY FIND A NEW COACH. Recent examples include: 1.) Maine, 2.) Merrimack, 3.) Princeton, 4.) Union… I could go on. Heck even going back look at Bazin at UML. Lowell was terrible for forever before he showed up… and they have been middle of the pack/good for a long time now. Even look at UNH back in the late 80s/early 90s. The end of the Holt era UNH sucked (perhaps even moreso than now) and new coaching rather quickly got them back on the national stage even prior to the arrival of Whitt in the mid 90s.
Now, one may make the NIL argument in today’s age of college sports. I know last Fall UNH launched the “On to Victory” fund that is meant to support NIL deals primarily for football/hockey and a few other sports. I don’t know how much money is in that pot, but it’s not like UNH is giving out nothing. Also, I can’t imagine UNH is giving out less that Merrimack, UVM, UMA, and UML, who (checks standings) are all above UNH in the standings. Merrimack just swept the same NU team who took us to the woodshed last weekend to a tune of 9-2.
Yes there are a lot of changes occurring in college sports right now, but we have been bad for an extended period of time, and the one constant is the coach. We can’t beat teams in HE, we can’t develop kids year over year, and we finish 10/11th every year, outside of the one year that Hellsten put the whole team on his shoulder and carried them to an eventual blowout up in Maine. One has to wonder if he earned that contract extension for Souza… I hope he got a thank you card back in Sweden…
Recruits see all of this, and I don’t blame them one bit for looking to go to greener pastures where they may have a better chance to develop and win big games. UNH can’t keep selling how they were good 20-25 years ago. Most of these young guys weren’t even born yet when UNH was in their heyday…
I don’t blame the students for chanting for Souzas ousting last night. They see what’s happening, and hopefully the AD and Jimmy T. listen and make the right decision come March/April…
Carvel at UMA is another great one. They were also absymal before he showed up. Now they were a bit before NIL, but still… they are located in “cow country” as some would say similar to UNH, but they were able to in short order right the ship and bring home a National Championship.Great post! A decade has nearly passed since Coach U gave up the reigns...My opinion doesnt mean diddly squat but I have always been hopeful for MS7. And who knows maybe they turn it around. Right now we are in the HE basement.
MC looms large...
