BOSTON COLLEGE 2025 - 2026

Ray, just got 3 tickets from VividSeats fot $91 each, including fees. Sec 329, BAR seats, (last row has elevated bar seat style seats). For two Beanpot games? a bargain!
Got two in last row for about the same or a little less.
Didn't buy for both rounds and only if BC makes the final.

Looking forward to the 2nd half with the addition of Hemming. I brought him up about a month ago at Pikes the scuttlebutt in a discussion with someone. Hopefully Jelvik can stay healthy, maybe he should go back to #21 the number he wore freshman year.

And there went BC's last opportunity for a pair of good non-conference wins to improve their NPI standing. Now they really may be in a win the HE tournament or not make the NCAAs territory before New Year's Day.

For the tough non-league schedule to work for your benefit, you actually have to win some of the tough games.

more like hutsko, small, fast lots of skill but injury prone. WMU bottled BC up in the second forecheck was effective and he was little O zone time. Rallied in the third but diatd not have enough to tie it up. Moore's goal that was disallowed was a tough break. Need to regroup for today. Hemming had a beautiful rush, split the D but got in too close and shot it into the pads. Good sign of things to come for him.

I'm still very bullish on this squad and seems like Hemming was good last night. Dean up to 10 goals!

Last night could be an NPI killer. The question has been asked by some folks that frequent this board (or used to) and there is no logical answer. Why schedule these games? Other coaching staffs have caught on to stop scheduling games during this time period. When can we expect our program to follow suit? Let the programs that don't contribute their players to the WJC play games in this period.

Lastly, does anyone have any inkling whatsoever in regard to what the deal is with Oscar Jellvik? The Gasseau info was scooped by the great Mark Divver, but I'm not sure I've seen anything on Jellvik. It's absolutely maddening.

They actually do still have 2 huge non-conference games left that they need to win. Today against LSSU which is their only CCHA opponent and with 4 CCHA teams wrapped around BC in the NPI this game is huge. Also, the Beanpot vs. Harvard with a win that is also immense to bring them to a winning record against the ECAC. These are both huge games.

Definitely a lot like Hutsko in regards to injuries in his senior year. Another that comes to mind is Dave Spina in his junior year. I believe he had a high ankle sprain which takes forever to heal.

Very good period for BC. Skating hard and controlling the puck. Deano fires a rocket from the right wing, then Moore got a tip from Hemming, nice shot pass from Hemming. 14 shots on goal to 6 for LSS. Good start, need to keep up the pace. First period they looked like a different team from last night. Second period not to good. Fortunately second LSS goal disallowed for a hand pass from the crease. Need to step up their skating and stay out of the box in the third.

Whew, did not make it easy for Korec, 6 on 3 for the last minute of the game. LSS had their chances but they could not connect on their passes across the crease. Tough win but one they had to have need to go on a little run in January. Long time between games. Hemming had several assists in the tourney and was out there on the PP as well playing with the second line. If they get Gasseau and Jellvik back in January they should be in pretty good shape for the second half of the season.

The good thing about the long layoff, it gives them more time to heal and more time to practice with the addition of Hemmer. Next game is just an exhibition (Stonehill - FRI Jan 9th) game which gives Hemming and other players to gel and develop more chemistry for the 2nd half run.

Seems like Hemming is the real deal. No reason not to be extremely bullish on this team if they can get healthy. Even just getting Gasseau back and fully healthy for faceoffs alone will be huge. Jellvik is sneaky good player and would also be huge to get back but I've somewhat lost hope for him at this point. If they can get above average goaltending they should be fine - Korec seemed to struggle according to what I was hearing so hopefully Cloutier can continue to improve and will be able to make the big save here and there and keep out the softies.

A fully healthy lineup will be hard to figure out because there is a glut of centers and left-handed shots; even before the break they had Hagens on the left wing moved from center because of faceoff issues and Hemming is a left handed shot as is Jellvik. It's going to be interest to see what happens.

Korec was ok, gave up one he would like to have back, it was a tough spot to be in, must game, hadn't played a game in almost two months, thrown into the fire on short notice. He did what he had to do and was solid in the last 5 minutes and during the 6 on 3 blitz. Hemming is very good, sees the ice very well, anticipates the play and made several assists. I agree with you on Gasseau and Jellvik, need them both but Oscar hasn't been part of the rotation for almost a year, so to get him back would be a big boost and take a little ice time off the top six which really helps going into the third period. Gustafson, Minnietian and Fortescue are logging major minutes and they are dong a great job. Props to them. Solid goal tending could take this team a long way

Hagens has looked very good on faceoffs at the WJC. Not sure if that is because of the younger players there compared to more seasoned older competition in college. He has been logging the most ice time of all forwards by about 2 minutes a game with shifts close to a minute apiece. Stiga is third with forward ice time. Hagens had 2 goals yesterday in their win over Slovakia.

You're right! And I think he did well on faceoffs last year at the WJC too if I recall correctly. Even commentators had mentioned it after coming back that he was telling the coaching staff here about his faceoff % from the tournament. I think you're right, the competition at the dot is far tougher back here than it is at WJC - not sure if that's a strength/age thing or just something the older, more seasoned players in D1 have spent more time working on and have figured it out more.

I'm trying to figure the upside of playing in these tournaments without your best players (all due respect to the guys that remain). There's no upside for the program itself, so I assume the players want to get games in after the long break but if that's the case then just do what other teams are doing and schedule some exhibition games that won't sink the program in NPI while BC is at a severe disadvantage. Of course you have to stack more games in the smaller window before or after the break but I really don't think it's a huge problem to play 3 games a week here and there even with classes and school work in the mix.

Looks like word has gotten around that Gavin Cornforth is leaving the team for QMHJL and BC hockey blogger seems to think this isn't a temporary semester to place him so he likely won't be returning. Bummer but with Hemming added this was likely going to have to happen.

Assuming a fully healthy lineup, I believe we have only 4 right handed shots with our top 12 forwards now. We have 5 true centers (Sondreal did well as a 6th) so you have a decision to make immediately when they are back. I love Dean and Hagens together; Dean has been causing havoc down low and it's opening up space in the medium range areas for Hagens to expose. Leave them together and you have Hagens on LW. Otherwise you bring Hagens to the middle and I think you consider moving Berard to LW since he's winning a horrendous 37% of faceoffs. I also like Jellvik and Gasseau as a pair if Jellvik ever comes back. I want to see a third line of Hemming/Moore/Conmy. I think Moore could facilitate for both the wingers and Hemming may also feed some pucks to Conmy.

In honor of Chris!!!!!

Option 1:
Hagens-Dean-Vote
Jellvik-Gasseau-Sondreal (offwing)
Hemming-Moore-Conmy
Stiga-Berard-Resendes

Option 2:
Stiga-Hagens-Vote
Jellvik-Gasseau-Sondreal
Hemming-Moore-Conmy
Berard-Dean-Resendes

(could swap Sondreal and Resendes)

At this point getting everyone ice time will be tough but sometimes these teams that roll four great lines out there are capable of great things.

The crazy part is that everything really hinges on Cloutier and the D.
