BC is reportedly the landing spot for Oscar Hemming, potential 1st round pick this year who has been given the runaround by his Finnish club over a contract dispute as he has tried to play with Kitchener of the OHL. It's a very long saga- I go over the details in the CHL recruiting thread I have- but the latest update is that he is currently fast-tracking his academic requirements in order to join NCAA in early 2026. He's a great talent but has lost the entire season so far to a lot of unfortunate posturing and spite, and the IIHF blocked his attempt to play in the BCHL by threatening 3 year sanctions, so this is the new path.
Reinforcements might be arriving in january. He may be 17, but he's 6'4, 194, plays physical, shooter, moves well, battles hard. Draft rankings have him in the 20s, but Button has him as high as 10. His brother Emil went 29th in 2024 to Dallas, Oscar is similar to him but considered more physical, potentially with higher upside.
