BREAKING: Trump says he is designating “Antifa” as a “major terrorist organization.” Such a step being taken this way would be concerning enough, given what it actually is, but, given that Trump sees “Antifa” hiding in every corner of opposition, this could be an extremely alarming escalation.

He made an offhand comment a couple months ago that he was considering adding the same status to the DNC. Antifa being designated first makes sense, testing the waters to see how much pushback comes their way before their checkmate move.

I ended up deleting my Bluesky account last night. I wasn't getting value out of it anyway, and I figured it could be a liability.

The really bad news would be if they designate the DNC or ActBlue as terrorist orgs. No hiding from federal campaign donation records.

There is no naming domestic organizations terrorist organizations. Only foreign.

Except it carries no legal weight. These are domestic organizations not foreign. There’s no such thing as a domestic terrorism group. It’s just meaningless blather.

My father was/is an alcoholic and by most measures I had a pretty shitty childhood. The one thing, one, that I remember him telling me when I was a kid was how lucky I was to be born in America. Hard to fill lucky when you are a target every day you go to school, and then a target when you get home. Yet, the theme of my life has always been "it could've been worse". Which is essentially what you are saying to me right now. I understand that concept more than you know, but I reject it on occasion as a defense mechanism.

I stopped believing I was lucky to be born in America around the Bush administration.

When I start believing that again I'll grow up. Otherwise, no.
