RPI 2025 Off-Season: Help Is On the Way

Perhaps, but it didn't work for Mike Addesa (note: I'm well aware of the scandal, but there were people high up in the administration that were gunning for him before that). Yale has tended to keep coaches well beyond their sell by date. Tim Taylor was treated as a god there for decades even though he was a mediocre coach.
As I mentioned earlier, it's not that Allain is gone, but it's the timing of the announcement that is curious, with players either already on campus or soon to be.

Rensselaer County and the City of Troy are partnering with help from the NY Rangers in a youth hockey intiative at the newly refurbished Knickerbacker rink in Lansingburgh. Press conference tomorrow. If RPI is not a part of this event and effort it will be an epic fail.... fingers crossed they will be involved.

I'm surprised that Allain lasted as long as he did. While they've been terrible since the pandemic restart, the program had lost all momentum before that. The last 3 or 4 years pre-pandemic were, at best, mediocre. The atmosphere in the Whale during my occasional visits in that period - I go to the RPI game every year and the Cornell game every couple of years or so - was devoid of excitement and attendance was down. It makes one wonder how much Allain depended on Muse, who was promoted to associate HC after they won the championship but left the program a year or so later. Not long after that the program began its decline.
I agree. Muse could have been the driver behind their success. Definitely went down hill like you said once he left.

Make that underline a skate blade and I can live with it.
Blech! was my initial reaction as well, but after reading about the logo and the branding on the Brand Hub and seeing it used in a variety of ways, it started to grow on me, especially after seeing in use and all the styles of "the bar" that can be used. Making it a skate blade seems on brand. I really liked that they're ditching "Rensselaer" in favor of RPI. It's always been RPI to me - the bullet, puckman... And only using the seal for formal correspondence - so I don't expect we'll see at center ice anytime soon. And they've addressed the sports "athletic marks" (like in my avatar) as well as PUCKMAN all which stay! It's actually all pretty well thought out and explained on the Brand Hub site. So I'll give Marty all the credit for trying something new, getting inputs from various stakeholders and explaining it all online.

Good positive point about it being RPI, not Rensselaer.

Yeah the logo is what it is, but I love using RPI and not Rensselaer anymore. Get rid of that Shirley bs

Now if they could add the new coach's name to the website and perhaps add a new roster.....we'll be all set. I will be interested to see if RPI's sweaters this season incorporate the new logo. Given the lead time on those orders, they'd have needed to supply that artwork to the manufacturer months ago....

Would not count on it - football starts in a few weeks and they have not posted any roster yet for that either

Starting to get really excited for the season. Depth on the team is good, top end talent lacking (no surprise there given the portal losses). I still think we will be bottom 4, but if the defense makes a big jump in Lang's system, they can definitely get home ice in 7 or 8.

I essentially see this season as one where they just need to establish the foundation and see what young players are part of the core moving forward.
