Dump Term 2, Part 2: "A third term would be a big shattering."

There are 453K troops in the Army; 173K in the Marines (USAF and USN will be useless). That's 1 trooper for every 5 sq miles in the lower 48 (sorry AK and HI - you're on your own), so that' ain't going to work.

But, you say, the cornfields don't need controlling and rural is Red. Fine - but there are 97M people living in cities larger than 100K in the US. If the army + marines have to control those, that's 1 trooper for every 156 civvies.

Edit: but of course, to control those cities, you also really have to control the metro areas. If you go by metro areas down to 100K, that's 292M people, or 466 per trooper.

For all the "power projection" we can do with our fancy war machines and missiles and electronics, the US military is not nearly large enough to be a true occupying power - and that goes for occupying our own country, as well.

There's two problems to this:

1. Dump's solution to "pacify" is to shoot first, shoot again, shoot some more and then maybe start asking questions. Start shooting people and all you do is create more opposition.

2. Most of the people in the Dump admin are fucking morons. They couldn't organize an orgy let alone trying to deploy the military across the country.

You assume too many things:

1) this won't break out everywhere at once. Most people in most states are just going to be lazy and do nothing. At best it will start in a region like the PNW or California and threaten to spread.

2) He won't wait until it gets too big, he won't make the Floyd mistake again because the people who (rightfully) stopped him are gone. He will take the first chance he gets and go in. Hell if its Washington or Oregon he will do it just to dphuck with Canada. (Or use them as an excuse saying they are instigating)

3) half of even the Blue States (and vice versa) will agree with him and help.

4) I never said it would work ;)

The thing about this is, if Jim is right no steps are going to fix this and we are on the road to dissolution no matter what. If that is the case Trump will use force to keep his power intact. Short term it might work, but long term he will fail. Their actions are completely predictable...especially when you ignore logic. They will assume a show of force will pacify the rest...they will be wrong.

Them being morons is why I would bet on it. Again don't assume I think it will work it will backfire in epic fashion. Smart people would know that and avoid it...they aren't so they won't.

In the most likely (at least to me) scenario where everything breaks out, refusing the result of the 2026 midterm elections and refusing to seat the likely new Democratic majority, I doubt any blue state Democrat is going to help Dump overturn democracy.

If anything kicks off it’s going to move too fast for Dump and his admin to contain it to one area. Granted, it won’t kick off everywhere but there’ll be enough of a geographical spread that they won’t be able to easily control it.

TBF, I don’t think any of us know how a lot of politicians would react when faced with an unprecedented scenario such as that. There’ll probably be surprises on all sides to be honest.
 
No midterms. They'll either be cancelled altogether, or they will be run exactly like Russia runs their elections with a predetermined outcome. They are NOT going to give up power.

If we actually had a civil war it would look more like the Myanmar one than the English or American ones.
Check it out and see if you can figure out what the fuck happened. Nobody else has yet. There were, as far as I can tell, 41 sides. I am not exagerrating.

Most civil wars in history have been pure chaos with no battle lines and no formal troops or command structures. They have been anarchy with flags.

Agreed. It would be an absolute mess for the first stretch. Maybe some alliances are formed but whatever we think, it would be horrors beyond anything we could imagine.
