trifecta
It's also fucking expensive to invest in equipment to extract from there. At the current price of oil, it doesn't make sense.Oil companies don’t want to touch anwr because they know if the Dems every take the trifecta that entire investment is fucked.
This. It's super expensive. I mean the only major oil company left in Alaska is ConocoPhillips. It's also fucking expensive to invest in equipment to extract from there. At the current price of oil, it doesn't make sense.
Same with the Alberta oil sands. Until oil was regularly ~$80/bbl it wasn't worth it. I'm sure even Canada is feeling the pinch with oil at <$60/bbl.
Sketchers Walking Slip ins are awesome. I have been doing 20k steps a day in NoLa in them!100%. Skechers fabric stretch fit is the way to go.
I believe they are talking about development and that cost only seems to go up.Dumb question but can't they just put a field on hold when its expected value goes negative? Or are you talking about the (I'm sure enormous) expense of initial development of the field?
If/when a field goes idle, they either have to extract the equipment, which is expensive, or you have capital tied up, not making money. It’s a big risk to the company.Dumb question but can't they just put a field on hold when its expected value goes negative? Or are you talking about the (I'm sure enormous) expense of initial development of the field?
Sorry, both houses in congress.Beg pardon?
Yes and no. You can’t idle chemical factories and refineries easily. Once a factory idles, especially something as hazardous as extraction, it’s insanely expensive. Start-ups and shutdowns are the most expensive and dangerous operations at any plant.Dumb question but can't they just put a field on hold when its expected value goes negative? Or are you talking about the (I'm sure enormous) expense of initial development of the field?
Initial development. You have to transport a lot of highly specialized equipment to a very very remote location. That’s on top of the fact that said equipment has to be engineered to survive at -50 and be able to traverse permafrost. Not to mention constructing all of the buildings and roads, and transporting the equipment to do that.Dumb question but can't they just put a field on hold when its expected value goes negative? Or are you talking about the (I'm sure enormous) expense of initial development of the field?
What are these pesky things called regulations? This is 'Merica!Yes and no. You can’t idle chemical factories and refineries easily. The procedures to shut down and restart a single unit are fairly thick. An entire extraction plant has to be insane.
That said, petroleum is admittedly a bit different than the chemical world I’m from. But it’s still very difficult and expensive.
What are these pesky things called regulations?

If you believe polling (I dont) they aren't."The good parts are the Trump economy, and the bad parts are the Biden economy." - Said by Orange Moron.
And, the electorate is buying it hook, line, and sinker.
