BU Hockey '24-'25: Reloaded for another Frozen Four run

So.... Are we in Toledo? Against Denver? That should be fun.
Toledo, definitely. Depending on how Denver, Quinippiac, and Ohio State do in their tournaments. If Denver wins , they they move up and it Quinippiac or Ohio State are possibilities I believe.

Boumedienne had a chance to clear a puck in front of his goalie and fanned on it which gift wrapped a goal for UConn to get them started. Had a bad penalty too. Thought he had a bad game compared to other games I watched him play.
Totally stupid and unnecessary crosscheck, which, from the penalty hangover, led to the first UConn goal.

Sad to say, as if who and where we play actually matters. This team has no heart and displays no will to win. NU and Maine showed what that looks like, and that’s not BU this year. Very sad. I’m getting tired of Jay saying ‘we have to play a certain way’ after every poor showing. As I said in a post weeks ago, Parker would be screaming. Not that that’s the answer but he seems so disengaged with the players during the game. Ben Barr and Jerry Keefe were constantly talking with players, encouraging them and recognizing good play with a word or a pat on the back. As a former coach I know how important that is.

I saw the second and third periods at the Garden and I thought BU looked listless. Pandolfo deer in the headlights. UConn didn't even look that particularly impressive at points, they just cleaned up turnovers. I meant to quote you from your previous post sorry

I disagree with this take. He was just protecting his goalie. It was hardly a cross check. He just pushed the kid away and he fell down like he was shot. Of course none of this had any bearing on the game. The game was lost because BU's give-a-fuck was at an all-time low.

Maine should romp tonight. They attempted 138 shots last night.

Maine looked surprisingly crisp and fit, right to the end of play in the second OT. However, that was a lot of hockey and UConn will be much better rested. BU didn't give them much exercise. Barr has done a wonderful job with Maine.

Maine is in control...

Looking at the PWR (since we're not playing and have time to fool around with it) - with Quinnipiac out, Denver winning their semi, it's looking like Ohio State in the first round in Toledo if Michigan St wins the Big Ten. It seems we always end up playing an opponent in their home state out west. Could still be Denver if Ohio St wins the Big Ten and Denver does't win the NCHC. The 4 seed would be the ECAC champion (Cornell or Clarkson). I don't think we have ever advanced from the midwest regional. We did get the west regional off our backs last year. We shall see where it ends up and how the boys regroup. I know everyone is not optimistic and completely understand. I can still hope, they are capable.

Very entertaining nights of conference tournaments. Lots of big comebacks (unlike BU) and OT's (almost 2 full ones in the Big 10 Championship!).

With the Denver - W. Michigan final still going in OT it is all but set. Just some minor seeding adjustments based on that game out west. We should be in Toledo against Ohio State with the winner getting the Michigan State - Cornell (What?) winner. Cornell is another team that always seems to find us in the regionals as of late.

Ohio State has Gunnarwolfe Fontaine (40 pts this year and their leading scorer)! He made the All Tournament Team. He looked really good this weekend and will be a thorn in our side I'm sure.

I watched the entire MSU-OSU game and it was a 5-star game (No notes!) - Outstanding end-to-end hockey with lots of physicality, skill, and speed. Interesting how OSU was called for 4 first period penalties and then the ref's went to prison-rules in OT. #OldTimeHockey

I also flipped to the Denver-Western game when I could and saw most of the goals scored. Denver was almost up 4-0 (hair off-sides/called back) and Western's tying goal was soft-serve ice cream soft by Davis. (Off his glove and in.)

The BC redemption tour is on the table. They'll easily handle Bentley and get past Denver to get to St. Louis.

Lots of high quality hockey was played this weekend. Just not at 4pm on Thursday, March 20th. *sigh*

BU Hockey: Surprise Us

Why the 2:00pm game??? We’re the 2/3 game. Should be the second game. I was hoping to not have to take time off work to watch. And they play like crap in games that start before 7:00.

The second game in Toledo is 5:30pm - still before 7pm. I hope they decide to show up. Colby Cohen called this the ‘group of death’ but this team can beat anyone if they play to their capabilities…. I have my fingers crossed …

You bet they can beat anyone. Hopefully the win or go home situation will kick them into gear! I would love to advance from the Midwest - like I said it would be a first. I remember one year we absolutely got demolished by Michigan St - 07 in Grand Rapids. Michigan State went on to win the title. It would be nice to even that one up - but one at a time- Ohio State first. 3-0 all time against them (I don’t know if that’s good or bad).

The game would end after 7:00, though. There were times this season where games started before 7:00, they played like crap. Then after 7:00, they started playing better, and won some of those games. It's very weird. I just blocked my calendar off, but I will still plan to work.

For those who have better memories than me...what time was the regional semi game against Yale in 2015? Was it at 2:00? Or earlier? Or the 2018 regional semi against Cornell in 2018? Was that at noon?

BC has payback for last year's national championship game to get them past Denver. Plus, it doesn't appear that Denver is anywhere near as strong as they were last year so that should be a cake walk.

It's amazing how six Hockey East schools made the tournament and based on where they are in the PWR, there didn't have to be any swaps to avoid first round match ups.
