UNH 2024/2025 Goldberg Edition

Our AD fka as SB made a decision that was pennywise and a pound foolish to keep her budget projections intact.

A replacement would be a hell of a lot more expensive than 240 large.
Scotty Borek apparently making $290k at Merrimack, Wiedler $250k at UVM, all rest besides Souza north of $400k/yr.

I really wish this board could be user approved. Potluck and sparkee would be banned for their relentless crap. This used to be a board talking about the team and hockey. Now we fight about Diamond Library and budgets.

The reality is, if you paid MS7 the $240K buyout, year 1 would not be any different. Same attendance and so on. If the team succeeded then year 2 would be an increase. The Monarchs killed the season tickets as the west side of the state could travel less and also had a better experience. There is an opportunity to recover but this admin is so deaf that we are stuck in the Washington Bullets world.

Heading down to the HE semis tonight..any of you doing the same? I remember meeting Snively65 and a few others at the Providence game where my hero Kevin Goumas had 2 goals in that one (ah, sweet victory that was) in '14. Hard to believe (is it?) that UNH hasn't played there since 2015. TEN YEARS AGO

Ha my only UNH 'claim to fame' is having 2 HE tournament victories over them...sad but, hey, you gotta start somewhere...Am sitting in Loge 18 Post here if you are going and I'll buy you a $40.00 Bud Light haha...

HR will be 'rooting for' Maine (egads) and UConn (sorry Chuck).
You have been stripped of any UNH affiliation. You can never say I am routing for Maine.

So MS7 hides behind the facilities as the barrier. As someone who has helped with organizations to raise money, the best way is personal interactions. Phone calls, emails, texts, ect is the way to raise money. I understand the Whit is old, there is no weight room but the solution is to be the face of the organization, not the guy who hides.

Jerry Azuma made a $100K donation at age 25 to renovate the weight room in 2003 after 4 years of football.

From the hockey side

JVR: $64M
TVR: $17.5M
Daniel Winnick: $6.3M+
Brett Pesce: $59.6M
Warren Foegele: $22,5M

That is 5 players that have made $170M in the NHL, why have we not tapped into that market?

Perhaps a resource to chase. Not sure how this plays into the theory - or the leverage to coerce $$ - but which of these guys are actually alum? (l'm sure a few finished degree work after bolting). Loved watching them all...

Unfortunately yeah, I agree with ya ecat. Maine will be gassed and UConn has some guys with wheels. UConn 4, Maine 2. Only way Maine is in it is if Booooyahh absolutely stands on his head.
You'll like this acs. My oldest son is coaching a select team my grandson is on with Michel Leveille-Maine 2003-2006. He says he's a great guy and the kids are lucky to have him.

Add CdS for $8.9 mil. Not sure if he completed his degree either.

This used to be a board talking about the team and hockey. Now we fight about Diamond Library and budgets.
Let's see...bounced early from the playoffs and almost a dozen players graduating, is there even a team to discuss? It's getting boring talking about MS7 all the time. How many more ways can it be said that he's not the guy to lead the program out of the darkness?

Here are 10 more ways...
  • "He's not the right person to guide the program to brighter days."
  • "He's not equipped to steer the program out of its struggles."
  • "He's not the one to bring the program out of its slump."
  • "He's not suited to lead the program to a successful future."
  • "He's not the leader who can pull the program out of the shadows."
  • "He doesn't have what it takes to turn the program around."
  • "He's not the person to pull the program from the brink of failure."
  • "He lacks the vision to bring the program into the light."
  • "He's not the one who can lift the program out of its troubles."
  • "He's not capable of guiding the program toward success."
Oh sorry that was both sarcasm and rhetorical

Generative AI,

I understand your frustration with my posts. There really was a point. The same posters basically swapping spit year after year isn’t interesting at all.

I agree that the coach is the face of the program. But please provide a fundraising pitch for a new coach to give to a prospective donor. Selling people on the newness of a new coach in general is a good way to start a pitch but it won’t close anything, let alone a significant financial donation.

I’m confident a fundraising pitch goes nowhere unless it can persuasively convince a donor that the donation is part of a renewed commitment to the program with a detailed outline of the “commitment “

The simple point is to bring in a coach that knows how to coach and invests more than just 9-5, has a game plan, coaches during games, creates structure, and has a vision, can absolutely win here without upgraded facilities. With winning will come donations. Have you listened to any of MS7's interviews? He talks in soundbites. The right new coach will absolutely bring winning back to UNH, fill the stands again, and create donors. (Forever Optimistic!)

The pitch is you get a coach to rebuild the team, put asses in seats and then go for money. The issue is lack of winning spearheaded by a guy with a losing record.
