UNH 2024/2025 Goldberg Edition

A good regional sales representative for a sports apparel makes more. Just curious, have you ever made more than $75k per year?

It’s odd so many posters seem to be in awe of low six figure salaries.

A regional sales representative needs to actually talk to people. If Souza could do that job he would be better at his current one.

So doing what?

Not any 6 figure job, a 6 figure job Souza could do.

Gotta say it was something to see how many Maine fans were at the Garden last night..I dont think UNH fans would have been there en masse but then these fans are excited about the direction their program is headed...

For those of you who have been through the Golden Age of UNH when we were always in the post season did the fans turn out? BTW I finally took my hat off as it was getting annoying having people remind me of what UNH stands for and the other cute sayings (you know what they are)...Left before the 3rd and watched the rest from my hotel.

Was reminded of when I met Charlie Coyle at the CommAve Classic...told him I was a UNH fan and he said "I'm sorry...hopefully they will come through for ya" 🤣 Somedayyy

Regardless I'm proud of following the team..but not so sure going to these games is good for me anymore. Good luck to both teams tonight! Thinking Maine has more depth but I wouldn't count out the Huskies!

Ps...someone please start a new thread..I vote for 'Don't take the Bait' as the title 🤭

So the solution is to hire the right person and he’ll spin straw into gold? At a lower salary. After all doing more with less is expected. No increase in budget. To do so is “throwing money at the problem”, correct?

As the wins mount, the private donors will open up their wallets. Beautiful amenities will follow, salaries will escalate, banners will be hung. Recruits will drool at UNH recruiters.

UNH will be Shangri-La!

Most importantly, Buford’s and Elwood’s taxes won’t increase. Ever!

FIRE SOUZA!

Yes, we came out en masse to the Garden. The Harp across the street should have been called Libby's South. The Fours was a popular spot as well.

See Maine, University of... not once but TWICE - Shawn Walsh and now Ben Barr
See New Hampshire, University of... Dick Umile

I am certain there are more. Since more often than not the facility upgrades happen after the winning.

This is not about taxes. It is about a realistic view about how the world works.

Shangri-La, is posting in a College Hockey echo chamber and thinking that a team that hasn't been successful / relevant since 2015 (last trip to Boston) is going to magically get money from the State when the University (like many) is dealing with a crisis of falling enrollment and hence budget short falls.

NOTE: Ben Barr's first contract at Maine, before he started winning $256k.

You’re anonymous. It’s interesting that you view $240,000 salary with awe. Tough to buy a decent house in eastern Mass with that income.
God, you're an insufferable git. What makes you think anyone on here would want to live there, when we can live better here?

Annual occurrence for over a decade. The hicks would all come down from the sticks (Maine and UNH fans) and invade Boston for the weekend. Year after year Hockey East Championship was a sell out and a full building at that. BU or BC fans to be vocally routing for whoever was playing against BC or BU. Loud building fun atmosphere. I used to have a system for doing tickets, to get Club Seats each year, until a friends business started getting a box.

I’m not in awe or star struck by the salary. And he isn’t buying a house in eastern Mass. let me guess you make millions a year?

No hiring the right person and winning is an easier sell than a floundering program run by someone who won’t come out of witness protection.

Also coach had ideas to raise money but we haven’t heard a word from him this year.

there’s been a lot of nasty posting on here from underemployed people that resent Souza’s relatively modest salary. Souza has a wife and two children to take care of. He didn’t rob a bank yet he’s been treated like he has by Buford and Elwood. By ALL accounts, Souza is good man.

You are one of those knuckleheads, Norbert. It’s not Souza’s fault that you are underemployed. It’s not his fault that Buford and Elwood find themselves barely able to fund a round of beers let alone subsidize a tax increase.

The mess that is UNH hockey is primarily a product of a state that doesn’t really believe in higher education. Underfunding the school has its consequences.

Repeatedly Abusing a failed coach that is a product of a failing UNH system that is poorly funded and managed is cowardly.

I certainly have doubts about your salary accomplishments after you've beaten us all over the head with your personal competitive philosophy of - trying hard, success uncertain, whine much, do nothing. Inspiring...

No bigger losers in sports or life than those who refuse to try because they want a crutch for any potential lack of success. Why try if there are obstacles and you can place blame without 'wasting' time or effort!? I love competing against people like you. I'm sure coaches around HE also enjoy their time competing with a program so paralyzed by the uncertainty that comes with change. UNH could follow Maine's blue print and enjoy a new era of nationally competitive success. Or, they might not. Neither outcome is a loser outcome. Your's most assuredly is...

For all your posting, all you've proven is that YOU don't have the ability, the vision or the courage. If/when the position does open, do us all a favor and forgo an application. You won't have to worry about failing and UNH's outcome will become just a bit less uncertain...

I got lucky in picking up a returned club seat one year by arriving early, which had the added bonus of free access to the sports museum that wraps around the entire Garden at that level, IIRC.

Many years, after picking up my tickets at the Garden box office, I walked down Tremont(?) Street a couple blocks to the Commonwealth Brew Pub, the first microbrewery in Boston (1986-2002, before Sam Adams and Harpoon) for a pre-game brewski and meal.

By ALL accounts, Souza is good man.
We all know great people who are bad at their jobs.

MS7 could be blessed at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, sainted by the Pope himself and be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his contributions to humanity but he still can't coach a powerplay or hold a third period lead.

He's had seven years. It's time to move on.

I’m sorry that you are an asshole and are better than everyone. Making a statement like everyone is under employed or that I am can be packaged up and you can shove up your ass.

We are not discussing MS7 as a man this is an evaluation of the results of a job, which has been unsuccessful. You do know that people who don’t meet goals or any expectations in a job are at times fired.
