UNH 2024/2025 Goldberg Edition

Just a reminder, UNH wins the national championship if it goes undefeated the rest of the way. Will the mayor of Boston allow us to use the duckboats?
WTF would we want anything to do with Boston after a UNH national title in anything?!?!?:mad:

Float Dr. Geyser's rafts from Story Land up and down the Oyster River, around Great Bay. Pure NH!!

Providence and UConn are 99.5 and 99 percent chance of making the tourney respectively, per CHN.
As the sixth team Lowell is at 78 percent, meaning quite likely 6 get in. UMass is the coin flip for getting in as the 7th team. Though there could be cannibalism, for example, when Lowell and UMass play each other. Be interesting to see how that result affects the probability matrix. But pretty likely 6 get in.

IDK Chuck, sure seems quite likely at this point.
Five seems most likely to me. Seven only happens if you get to six, AND an otherwise HEA non-qualifier wins the tourney.

A sixth HEA qualifier also could get crowded out by a non-qualifier team(s), in another league(s), winning their tourney(s).

Regardless, I'm comfortable saying UNH won't be anywhere near the big tourney draw ... which is a shame, of course, because yet again, they miss out on being seeded in Manchester, tapping into the local interest, growing the program, etc.

MS7 probably already has vacation plans for late March in Florida anyway ...

Agreed, which is why I think that if we sweep UMass and UML and win our MBPBEGAM game, we are in the NCAA’s, even if BC sweeps us, we are a HEA basement team, and we do not get to the Garden. Of course, had we swept UVM and Yukon last month and beaten Mac earlier this month, we would not be in the HEA basement and probably somewhere in the PWR 10-12 range instead of 18th. Definitely an anomalous year for HEA and the PWR.

But, hosting is the participation trophy of the NCAAs and considering UNH never shows up to play in the third period as it is, it will all work out in the end. Plus, considering the fiscal crunch on campus, it saves the school gas money from Durham, laundry expenses and the inevitable cost of the Souza victory tours in Durham and Wakefield.

It is a(nother) brutal indictment of the Souza era that in a year when UNH is hosting a regional and Hockey East has a rising tide type season conference wide bouying everyone's Pairwise UNH still can't find a way to win a few games with a seasoned roster to get their way in to the tourney.

Seems unanimous this year people are unhappy with Souza. Last year Souza’s approval was split. You still had some from the old guard in support due to legacy reasons. Namely Chuck Murray, he was in favor of a long term extension due to 20 win season. But after this year, I’m guessing Chuck wishes he could take back all of the campaigning he was doing to help get approval for Souza’s extension.

You are in need of some serious psychological help, bud. Your obsession with Chuck borders on the creepiness scale. Do yourself a favor and find a hobby or just ignore him.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

That was the hobby I found. It is fun. You try needling Chuck, I bet you will like it.

The "Ignore" button under Sparkee McSpanky's profie works wonders. :p
If you ignore enough you don’t have to deal with the reality of the situation.

Maine hockey >> UNH hockey

You avoiding this is just whistling past the graveyard. Convince yourself the last 4 games vs Maine was just a bad dream.

Huh???......what????? Hmmm.....sorry Sparkadoodle, I can't hear you, see what you post, or give a fat rat's derriere either way. Thanks for playing!! :p  :poop: :poop:

Yeah, I've kinda reached my limit of toying with spanky. I guess I wouldn't mind so much, if he at least tried to be truthful in his accusatory posts. I mean, anyone who's been on here for any length of time knows I've been championing the buyout option with MS7 for quite some time now, and that doesn't jibe with the "yeah, Chuck wanted him signed sealed & delivered forever" BS he's been spewing lately.

Last season consisted of some well-connected folks coming on here to say MS7's extension was a "done deal", and even then I resisted it, and the only concession I've ever made - grudgingly - was that *maybe* I could understand a one year "show me" extension - which in full retrospect was clearly the right call. I'm still on here asking whether we know for a fact he signed a three year deal OR three one-year deals (not unprecedented BTW). I recall someone on here claimed definitively that it's the former and not the latter. If so, we're back to finding ways to cobble together $240K for a necessary buyout, which frankly shouldn't be a hard thing to do. I'd write the check myself, if the folks at UNH would give me 20% of incremental revenue generated by hockey at The Whitt for the next 10 years; I'd come out on top for sure.

I remember the good ol' days when Drew would come on here and ask some out of the box questions, which were sometimes admittedly unusual, but were unquestionably in good faith. This clown skippy is the absolute worst UMaine bandwagoner I've ever seen. Crazy how he was so quiet, invisible even, when UMaine was down in the muck with us during the Gendron Era. The long-time UMaine-iacs just point and laugh at him ... I wonder who's gonna tell him he's basically seen as the village idiot not only in this village, but also in his own village???

P.S. - Snives, if you truly believe all UNH needs to do to make the NCAA's is to sweep UMass Lowell and UMass Amherst, and win one game after that ... and with a .500 record/last place (maybe 10th?) in HEA, qualify for the big tourney??? I'll have some of what you're having

Speaking of village idiots, Chuck just try passing a basket around in the stands. Wouldn’t take that long if you start now!
