Wisconsin Hockey 24-25 Improving With All Due Haste.

The defensive breakdowns are not just a function of Michigan's style, but a broader problem with this team's ability to handle opponent's forecheck pressure. If you pressure them, they'll cough it up. Watch the Chokers dial it up next weekend and force us to make plays in all 3 zones, especially in our own end.

This Week: 1/31/25 at Minnesota 7 PM B1G+, 2/1/25 5 PM B1G+

Next Week: 2/7/25 Penn State 7 PM B1G+, 2/8/25 6 PM B1G+

Home ice still in the cards (with Michigan and Ohio State). Big week to try and steal some points at Mariucci. Still waiting for that complete 120 minutes over the weekend.

When was the last time you could count on the Badgers being in every game top to bottom. Hastings hs done a great job along with the staff turning things around from the horrible start. With the off season exodus of scorers they are right there progressing. Coaching has been excellent this season. When did Sauer or Eaves ever do this with the current less than steller talent?

I like this viewpoint. If they were .500 in OT, things would look a lot different. This weekend is huge.

Rodent week, correct? Pretty quiet! I know they are good, and we shouldn't poke them, but f@#$@ those guys!
They all left the forum years ago. What fun is it to poke fun at something that won't try and poke you back?

Apparently they haven't won a shootout is 10 years. I'd much rather prefer to win in regular time. By multiple goals. I'd love to have 2 no stress games.

Whens that happened against these boys?

What a great first period they played. Second not so much, but they escape with a tie at that point. Third period was even, the Badgers had some good spurts but couldn't score and the rodents did take advantage of UWs mistakes. Their top line did all the damage. Our top line did not.

Tassy's pinch that lead to a Minnesota 4-on-1 and Minnesota's third goal was egregious. He has to be smarter than that.

Also, I think our goaltending is extremely mediocre or "mid" as the kids say. I wouldn't be surprised if we went into the transfer portal again this offseason to find a starter.

For the love of all things holy, please stop dump n' chasing. You stand a much better chance of offensive zone possession by carrying the puck into the zone.

Team doesn't deserve to make the NCAA tournament. Talent gap can't be overcome by our current level of effort and hockey IQ.

I agree. They're just a clear level below the teams which will compete in the tournament. In addition to effort and hockey IQ, I think they just don't have enough talent. That can be overcome with 60 minutes of effort and smart play, but they always find a way to give up that big goal. Penn State next week: a team they should sweep at home. I bet they give us all we will want and more.

Re: goaltending
I agree that Scarfone has been mediocre this season. To me one of the stark differences I've seen between this season and last season is that Scarfone hasn't been too much of a difference maker in games. Last year McClellan was constantly making huge saves to keep us in games, and I can't say I've seen or noticed it from Scarfone quite as much. On the note of transfer portal, we would need one of Castro or Gramme to transfer for us to have a goalie opening. Hauser who we're bringing in from the WHL has been solid, especially since he got traded to a better team. I'll be curious to see how the situation plays out, maybe Gramme and Hauser split time?
