Wisconsin Hockey 24-25 Improving With All Due Haste.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I suggest you watch the Stramel interview that was posted earlier. He talked about "changing his body" over the summer once getting on at MSU. you can watch that here: https://youtu.be/NX7ojAf_EYM?si=GU0mbYHG4eBHQM8v&t=2154 Now he is second in points on the 2nd rated team and +13. Just food for thought.

I'll try and take a look. His point production is up because he's getting top dog ice-time, which includes playing with other top dogs, he's not injured and is on the PP. I always thought he could produce at UW under the same circumstances, but Hastings had other ideas. Perhaps had he stayed, this could have been his year at UW.

Morrissey is leading the nation in Fr scoring. Pretty impressive. Was he a TG guy or a Hastings guy?

Hastings. He was originally committed to Minnesota State before we brought in Hastings, and he flipped his commitment to the badgers. I'm hoping this means he likes Hastings a lot and has no plans on transferring. Not that I have any reason to believe he would, but in the current state of the NCAA you never know.

We need more Morrissey's! Under the radar recruit that is really, really good. Knott has an eye for talent.

Well that was something. I think give Gramme the start tomorrow as Scarfone could probably use a day off. Hope Finley is OK but I also would not have guessed we would have that type of production without him so there is at least some silver lining.

I hope Finley's injury isn't too serious, I didn't get a great view of what happened from where I was sitting. However, if Tassy and Fitzgerald are playing like this for the rest of way the team will have some success regardless of if Finley is playing or not. Good game overall, if the badgers can minimize the defensive mistakes wins like this will keep coming.

Hastings said the play that injured Finley was dirty. I didn't see it. Any eye witness accounts? Posick didn't think Scarfoni didn't play poorly enough to get pulled, it was a wake up the team pull. Thoughts?

Great to see a third period comeback - those have been rare this year. Now let’s see if they can get win on the second game of a series - that would be a big step forward.

As for Scarfone, 4 goals on 14 shots is not a good day at the office unless he got left out to dry the entire time he was on the ice. They also need to see what they have in Gramme unless they just plan on bringing in a transfer portal goalie every year. Maybe split goalies in each of the remaining series and if you get a hot hand you stay with him into the playoffs.

I’m hoping that Tassy and Fitzgerald can continue to produce - they’re gonna need it if Finley misses any time.

From my look, two guys tackled him in front of the net but most of the attention was behind the net where the penalty was actually called.

Ha, what is Posick on about? He gave up 4 goals on 14 shots. There were some bad turnovers by our guys, but some of those need to be stopped (like the first goal in the game). Gramme leaves big rebounds, but he at least stops the first shot.

That did not go so good.

If they could eliminate blatant bone-headed f'ups in the defensive zone they'd win a lot more games. We're lucky Michigan aren't wizards in their defensive zone either.

Quoted for truth. Mehlenbacher not clearing the puck right before Michigan scored in the 1st will be seared into my mind for a bit.

Final thoughts on Michigan: Went into the weekend thinking to myself we couldn't afford a loss at all, so I'm happy with the win and the tie. Obviously the defense will have to be a little bit better and minimize the mistakes, but I think part of the reason this weekend was so high scoring was just due to Michigans loose and fast playing style, I felt we controlled the second halves of both games well once we had settled in. I like how we've been getting productive offense from all lines lately too, we'll need more of that and better starts to games next weekend at Minnesota to be competitive.
