So who picked up Disney + just because of today? We did.

Watched once this morning, and am again tonight with some "themes"- Puerto Rican food and St Croix rum.

Really fun!

We got our daughter's password. My god that was amazing. I've heard the cast recording 20 times and I've seen a traveling show but I've never seen them. Best musical ever made, and best performance.

And the most patriotic American story ever done. I hope they make it a perennial tradition. Raise our kids on this an the Nazis will never rise again.

We were fortunate enough to see Lin-Manuel play his part in Puerto Rico a year ago, and that was amazing. One of the best parts about seeing it over and over again is the unique addition each new cast brings to their roles. One of the best musicals ever.

So, we finished Mrs. America and The Great* this weekend.

Mrs. America: the last 2 episodes were weak but overall I loved the series and there should be Emmys galore. In particular, Phyllis, Betty, and Bella were all amazing. A.

The Great*: solid all the way through. I hope that's it. While an S2 would still be clever and fascinating there is no way it will rise to the same emotional level, and it won't be the same without Peter. A-.

Gf and I watched the Hamilton OC taping on Disney+. We've both seen the live production at its permanent engagement in Chicago (albeit about a year apart). All credit to Lin Manuel for the writing and composing, and he's a capable actor, but this has to be said - his singing voice is...underwhelming at best. :-/

Oh he will tell you that...

Btw the Liberals upset cause Hamilton doesn't deal with Washington and his slavery can die in a fire.

I'll Be Gone In The Dark. A 6-part HBO docu-series about Michelle McNamara in which they posthumously portray her intention to solve for the East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer who went unchecked between 1974 and 1986, although we will likely never know the true extent of his barbarism. It's very well done so far but it already feels somewhat bittersweet. However hearing her written words spoken (voiced by Amy Ryan) and everything that she went through to investigate this madman is very intriguing.

For once I'll agree with Kepler's normal stance re: the uber-liberals: I'm not sure those people are real. The one clickbait article I read basically cited two unnamed Twitter users complaining about Hamilton. One of the complaints was that the actors were Black.

I read the book, and I'm watching the series. It's kind of nice to put faces to the names, and the interviews with the victims is a real plus over the book. However, I feel like (at least thus far) there was a lot more information in the book. The book itself is not perfect, and a bit disjointed, owing in part to McNamara's death. Others had to step in and finish certain chapters.

There are always a couple true extremists in every crowd. When Washington and Lee voted to remove Lee's name three faculty members recommended removing both names. And WaPo ran a piece recently suggesting removing Washington's name from something which, ahem, their name is WaPo.

The point is insane individuals do not do anything to delegitimize a good cause no matter how much the opposition tries to use them to slime the majority of reasonable proponents. It is an old strategy.

And the voice of Kristoff in Frozen.

(Source: My daughter who has watched Frozen and now Hamilton way too many times)

I saw that. He was also the Smooth Kid from the arch rival group in Glee. And he's going to play opposite Neil Patrick Harris in Matrix 4 which may be the only reason to watch that train wreck.

And he was banging Sylar in real life for a while. I assume he's a bottom.

Anyway, he's already had an interesting life and he's still only like 16.

Also, he liked to dress up as Julie Andrews as a child but he was raised Mennonite.

The Glee Curse continues.

If you're scoring at home,

3 down:

Finn, overdose, 31
Puckerman, suicide, 35
Santana, drowned, 33

3 to go:

Rachel (33)
Kurt (30)
Brittany (33)

Or progressives don't like it because there's literally an entire song dedicated to the art of compromising to get a majority of what you want instead of none of it. ;-)

Been watching Deadwind on Netfilx. Good.

Might be the scandinavian affinity for reserve that makes it work for me, though.
