Oldie but still a goodie:

I think this is simply Joe being a lifetime politician... He's been doing Olympic Boxing, not brawling behind some country bar that serves FUDD. Completely different worlds and goes against everything Joe has probably had to teach himself over the past 30+ years...

This is it exactly. Remember in 2016 during the GOP debates? Ted Cruz (whom I loathe) is truly a master at debating*. Like, he's a world class debater in the traditional sense. Not on content, but rhetorical and oratory skills.

And Donald Trump unpantsed him.

Cruz was terrible in that debate though.

I seriously think all the stuff about Cruz' purported intellect and rhetorical skills has been BS. The guys has never demonstrated superlative intelligence to me beyond what you encounter in an excellent school's typical serious undergrad. He would be a straight A grade hound undergrad but many, many are, and he would be laughed out of any decent graduate program -- he has no mental flexibility, it is strictly goal-driven. A perfect law school student.

He was bad in that forum - with 987542738623645 people and 1 Donald Trump. But if you watched him later on in the debates when there were only a handful and Trump was skipping them, he was excellent. Still a total jackass, but in terms of technical debate performance, he was excellent.

I know out-arguing Beto O'Rourke is no difficult task, but he handed Beto a lot of bruises after their debates (I tried looking up articles, but found the non-partisan ones were subscription only, and a New Yorker article called it a toss-up). Then again, I hold Beto in incredibly low regard.

Total guess but women steering sharply to Biden?

Be interesting to see where Dr. Gross and Galvin are polling at.

I am a little worried because the “both sides are bad” claptrap is gaining steam.

Well, in my opinion both sides are bad. One of them is just much, much worse.

At least you said law school student and not lawyer. The best attorneys have plenty of mental flexibility. But law school doesn't test for that, especially at the tier 1 schools (seriously don't think they even offer practical trial prep classes).

Ted Cruz? Princeton '92 undergrad cum laude, Harvard '95 graduate magna cum laude? First Hispanic to clerk for a Supreme Court Justice (Rehnquist) in '96? Solicitor General for the State of Texas, where he argued cases before the US Supreme Court nine (9) times, winning on 5 occasions - more than any practicing lawyer in TX, and more than any current member of Congress? Author of 70 USSC briefs, and 43 USSC oral arguments??

Yes, what an overrated lightweight. If only he was approaching 80,000 posts on here, like you.

Stick to the day job, TL ...

From Newsweek, a surprising outcome of a Telemundo Twitter poll ... 66%-34% in favor of Trump.

https://www.newsweek.com/66-percent-...debate-1535176

So I guess Beta Biden can say buh-bye to FL, TX, AZ, NM and possibly NV.

Trump should consider spending some time out in CA during the Barrett confirmation, force Biden to play some defense, and maybe help out some down-ballot candidates if nothing else.

Whoops:
In a poll conducted after the debate, 66 percent of participants told Telemundo they believed Trump won the debate. Only 34 percent of poll participants thought Biden made a better showing in Tuesday's debate. Telemundo hosts warned the poll was "not scientific" but was based on the responses on the participation of its followers on Twitter.

"Like other news organizations, Noticias Telemundo conducted a Twitter opinion poll last night to capture instant online reaction to the first presidential debate," a Telemundo spokesperson said in a statement provided to Newsweek. "When the final results were announced on air, Noticias Telemundo prefaced the results by explaining the numbers did not reflect a scientific survey, but instead a real-time online poll among Twitter users."
66 percent of Twitter bots said Trump won.

My non-scientific poll had Pinkie Pie winning by 70%...

So he went 5-4 in front of a court that has had a conservative majority the entire time he was practicing. Going 1 game over .500 in that environment isn't a sign of greatness, but mediocrity.

And what the fark do you mean by "authoring 43 oral arguments" when you just said he argued 9 times? And it's SCOTUS, Biff.
