Because Trump is the head of the Republican Party and Zelensky has to meet with them to continue the war. Plus they whined he was biased towards Harris.

If he snubs Trump and Trump wins...Ukraine becomes Gaza.

Zalensky is doing this to have some sort of string to grab on to should Dump win. He knows that he needs to play both sides here and he can't have Dumpy pulling a temper tantrum and burying him and Ukraine.

I really hate to be this way, but as someone who has a grad degree in public health and works in climate, there’s only so much abuse I can take

Honestly, it's a chronic problem with people- for some reason, people can't accept that there are others out there who are smarter than they are. And it's not just MAGA people, shows like ancient aliens runs off the premise that people were not smart enough to figure out how to build massive structures. The only significant difference between people 5000 years ago and now is that we have accumulated information to shorten the time to figure things out.

Seeing people turn it into politics isn't surprising, but they sure point out how dumb they are that *they* could not figure out obvious things. It's one of the really scary parts of "common knowledge"- which is many times hardly that.
