UMaine Hockey 23 - 24: The Barr Crawl to Glory!!!

Since the start of Feb, opponents have a +20 shot differential in the third period against that Black Bears. Doesn't seem like much, but for a team that is 3-5 in those games that disparity definitely adds up.

Special teams battle is the biggest thing I'm watching out for tonight. Statistically speaking Vermont's PP converts at 10.2% which is dead last in the country, so hopefully if Maine does take penalties they can minimize the damage. Let's not forget that in the HE Playoff game last year Maine gave up 2 PPG to Vermont's 54th ranked PP (including the dagger about mid-way through the third).

On paper this should be a sweep for Maine but with the recent results I'd be happy with 4 points at the Gutt.

If they need a positive trip,6 points is a must for the team plus in the standings.

About as brutal a start as you can have to a road game. Early penalty, no shots through the first 7 minutes, and a funky bounce own-goal.

Tough break… bounced weird of the boards, Boija out of position, guy through through crease, goes in of Bradley’s skate. 1-0 Vermont

Is Campbell Blair available? It would serve this team very well to have a coach who can teach positioning in the D zone. That’s been a weak spot every game this season but two. (Lowell games….but that’s likely a reflection on Lowell’s O)

The back linesman’s arm was up for icing…i don’t think maine knew the front guy waved it off

Maine pretty fortunate that this game isn't 3-0 going into the intermission. All Boija in the first...

Black Bears credited with 9 SOG but Carriere didn't have to break a sweat.

lots of debbie downers in this forum right now. Rough start but we have had long stretches of offensive pressure. I believe we will be able to shrug that flukey goal off.

At the Gutt, in view of the tunnel from where Maine exits for the ice, just saw Chabrier and Ostman talking privately away from the team by the door. Looked like they were trying to psyche each other up and then ended with a fist bump.
