I wouldn’t mind seeing Poisson and Renwick play with Scholle on the third line. Maine is going to need a lot from them if they are going to get very far.
I think Northeastern winning Tuesday changes tonight significantly. They moved up seven spots in pairwise and are within striking distance of an at large bid even if it’s somewhat of a long shot. If they had lost I think they would be more focused on Monday but after winning they’ll be desperate to follow it up with a win tonight.
My expectation is Northeastern is the better team at the start of the game and Maine gets stronger as the game goes on. Maine has won their other three games coming off a bye week so hopefully that pattern stays true tonight.
My biggest question mark for Maine is how much they have left in the tank. They’ve given it everything they have all year and none of these remaining 12 games will be easy.
Maine has played less games than most other teams, it is why Maine has games in hand on BU and BC, for example. Plus Maine is evidently fully healthy according to reports from people that watched a recent practice. So if anything being fresh should be an advantage for them.
I think you would have a better argument if you said they could be rusty due to the layoff. But that is not the same as being exhausted.
And the fact there are no easy games means the league is good! Luckily, those teams all have to play the same teams that aren’t easy.
I’m excited about the game tonight. They got a great chance to break that streak Northeastern has on us at Matthew’s.
