Colgate 23-24

Wisconsin was scary enough last year and we were the higher seed. At home. No one takes them lightly.

Colgate kept Daniel off the scoresheet x4 games. How fitting that the final goal was off a turnover she created. Curious about Katie Chan now that she plays for the enemy lol. Absolutely no mention of Colgate in her bio. Has played in 13 games (5g, 9a-14pts) but none vs. Colgate. Is that deliberate? Happy for Darcie Lappan (Clarkson) unless we face her head 2 head!

Second period was a reality check in consistency; first shot for 'Gate was not until the 12:00 mark. No shots from the point or blue line and way too many passes around the boards. Crazy first goal for the Big Red, Osborne playing w/o a stick but not sure it would have mattered with the screen in front. Kayle makes me nervous with her play out of the crease and hesitation to pass the puck which causes turnovers. Guess this will be another Colgate road that goes through Wisconsin. Like the selection show, the media will likely predict an all-WCHA Final.

Congratulations, Colgate...nostalgia and fate with Breanne Wilson-Bennett on staff. This is what dreams are made of. Hope the magic continues.

Katie Chan was injured in early January. She played great before then. Best of luck against Wisconsin - you've done it before now, with Breanne Wilson-Bennett as TchrBill points out!

I think the ECAC odds are longer this time. In 2018, tOSU was a first-time tourney entrant who had started the tournament as a road team for the quarters and faced top-seeded Clarkson. This time, the Buckeyes are the top seed and get a FF opponent who is coming off a marathon game. Because 2018 was an Olympic year, the Badgers were nowhere near as talented as what Colgate will see this time. I'll leave it for Raiders fans to evaluate how this year's team compares with what they had in 2018, but UW is much scarier this time around.

Wisconsin was pretty much gutted in 2018. It was a minor miracle they did as well as they did.

At first glance I didn't have too much optimism for the game against Wisco. I remember the Edwards sisters dominating at Class of 65 rink. They also just beat Ohio State 6-3, yikes ! Looking at our Lady Raiders schedule, in the last six games we have given up four goals total with two shutouts, one against #3 Clarkson and two wins against #6 Cornell. I think it will be much closer than everyone thinks, and a win isn't out of the question. Go Raiders !

I am picking Colgate to spring the upset. I do not have as much confidence in my Knights but it sure would be great to have a replay of the 2018 finals (with the same result ;-) )

Both teams are on a roll, it's going to be a really stressful game for all parties. It could go either way.

I can think of more than a few Gopher fans who will be cheering for Clarkson and Colgate. As for myself, I suspect it won't be a repeat of last year's all WCHA final. Just sorry we won't be in it.

2018 just shows what's possible. We saw how good/fast WI was last year so should at least be expecting that plus Laila Edward's and Kirsten Simms up front playing at the top of their games
and Caroline Harvey et al playing special D. If we play to our potential we can do it but it's going to take a huge effort.

Anybody on this board headed to Durham? I'm planning on being there rooting for the upset in the 4 pm game with Clarkson's Michelle P and their D presenting major challenges for OSU and then savoring the upset in the nightcap with Elyssa B showing everyone the powers that be made a big mistake in not inviting her to the US tryout camp later this month...

Oldtimer, so, if I read your post correctly, ‘rooting for the upset’ means Clarkson will lose and ‘savoring the upset’ means Colgate will win. Do I read your predictions correctly?

Oldtimer - I am going to Durham, with my Granddaughter. See you there! I've been told the Colgate section in the rink has sold out! Go 'gate!!!!!

I'm really hoping for an all ECAC final, but I fear it's going to be an all WCHA final.

I do wish there was more WCHA-ECAC/Hockey East/et al. play. I really enjoyed our series with UConn in January. Had a nice chat with the dad of the UConn captain. Was cheering for them the rest of the season.

Most importantly I hope everyone has an enjoyable time.*

IBT, I consider myself a fairly tight drafter but you got me! LOL. Rooting big time for Clarkson as born a Northern NYer with a brother who is a Golden Knight...a great rivalry with Gate but all ECAC teams are blood relatives.

CU13 hope to meet you. I'll be at the Gate game with my Portsmouth based son and by myself for the earlier clash...

Shabby I think we had this conversation last year. I grew up in Watertown but will try to represent the entire north country as well as Gate and Cape Cod where I now live with class while in Durham!
Go Gate

Congratulations to Colgate. That was as good a job of bottling up the Badger offense as anyone has done all year. I knew Colgate was improved from last year, but I didn't know just how much. That was quite a struggle.

Proud of the women raiders. They provided us with a full year of exciting hockey, and have shown themselves to be competitive with the best.

It was an even game, Gate lost because of Wisco's ability to block shots, I bet they blocked 30 shots. Colgate couldn't get anything to the goalie ! Thought we were just as good.
Found the stats, Wisco blocked 24 shots, unreal. That and our inability to score on the two minute PP were our downfall.
