Colgate 23-24

It was an even game, Gate lost because of Wisco's ability to block shots, I bet they blocked 30 shots. Colgate couldn't get anything to the goalie ! Thought we were just as good.

I think a fair amount of good looks also missed the net. Obviously teams always have those but there's usually two or three you were like darn!

Not sure how we ever improve from this illustrious roster. Offense rarely outshines defense, and the Badgers proved that yesterday. We had our opportunities and couldn’t capitalize. It was a game Colgate deserved to play and proved they belonged. In the end, an all-west title game is what the NCAA prognosticators expected all along.

A moment to thank the departing Seniors and Grad students…One day they will return to see a national championship banner that they helped make happen.

Hope our recent years in the limelight will interest some wonderful recruits who would love to call amazing Colgate home.

Congratulations to the Raiders on their wonderful season! They can leave with their heads held high. Will Kaltounkova return for a 5th year? If so, Colgate will still be a team to watch!

Nice post Bill !

Did you guys ever find out what was going on when she was away from the team for those couple weeks? I never heard, but then I wasn't paying that close of attention.

No, which to me is how it should be, handled privately and discreetly. She has already said she'll be back next year so that will be very interesting to see how she plays and leads as the undisputed Alpha. Even more interesting will be how this team evolves after Danielle. So much of the past 5 years has been based on her playmaking. Will we remain finesse and opportunity driven or become more north and south. Many questions ahead.

So many thanks are in order to this group of 5th years that came in as the number one rated freshman class of 2019. They have more than lived up to that early hype and put Colgate women's hockey firmly on the map. I specifically came up that first fall to watch game one and even then the talent was obvious. Last night when I watched their last game together live at UNH I got the same buzz. I thought they outplayed Wisco for stretches of the game and were only beaten by 2 absolute lasers that no goalie could have stopped. Kayle O played great and disciplined. A fantastic effort that will age very well. Best of luck in the PWHL draft to the many in this group plus Nemo and Maggy M, Darcie Lappin, and Sammy Smigs who all played 5 years of D1 hockey at the highest level and hopefully will continue to remind us of Gate hockey excellence for many years to come. Finally to Coach Fargo and his great coaching team, we had to be perfect to win yesterday and we almost were. Our time will come. Go Gate!

Completely agree with Oldtimer. That was an extremely talented class and brought Colgate to new levels of consistent excellence. I think the future remains bright.

Ditto Gents! I just hope Gate gets stronger from here, especially in garnering more publicity for those athletes who really make a difference in big games and recognizing success beyond goals and assists.

Beautifully stated and I share these sentiments 100 percent!! The future of Colgate women's hockey will remain bright for years to come!! Go 'gate!

Congrats to OSU. Not many can say they went 1-1 against the Buckeyes this season ;-) They’re in the talks of getting a new arena worthy of a national champion.

Congratulations to Morrow and Serdachny on being selected Second Team CCM/AHCA All-Americans! They both should have been First Team, and Serdachny had it all over Daniel for the Patty Kaz in my very biased, but fair, opinion! ‘Gate held her pointless in FOUR tries!

Thanks for the comments.

Regarding Kayle being on the Portal, I would bet she's only willing to consider a limited number of schools all of which have a shot at the Championship with her in goal. Second, having been chosen this year to be our only goalie in the NCAAs, it's really time to let Hannah have her well deserved turn next year. Who is better is open to debate and we are in great hands either way.

Going forward we have 2 great forwards coming in next year, Addison Spitz from Little Caesars and Alexia Aubin from Stanstead College. Both are very talented scorers who will add to our already great offensive group. That's all I've found published but I'm hoping for more especially some additional blue line talent. Right now we have only Sydney Morrow, Avery Pickering and Gwen Eichfeld who are battle hardened. All others are essentially newbies and untested and unless they come back next fall much better our 4-6 D will be a big drop off from this year. I hope we already have some D talent lined up that's unknown. Otherwise we might have to look to the portal ourselves...

Unfortunately we're at a point in time where only 3 or 4 schools, but most likely 2, have a chance to win a championship. Badgers and Buckeyes are going to be facing off for title for a few more years to come. She could help boost a next tier team but most have established goalies and why they are already considered next tier. She will be great wherever she plays and any team will be lucky to have her.

Totally agree about Tessa. Hopefully, she stays and Coach Fargo can find her more ice time if that's the issue. Being on the Portal doesn't guarantee she's out the door. She may not be picked up or only find interest from a team she chooses not to join, but with her speed and tenacity she'd be a real asset to any team!

I also think the ice time may have played a part in her decision. With Biederman, Brick, Pais and Kaltounkova already guaranteed a place in the Top 6, there are 2 places left to fill. Palumbo seems to me the most likely to fill one of the two vacancies. Tessa would probably fight it out for the last spot with Malachino. However, Alexia Aubin, who has won two gold medals with the Canada's U18 team, could muddy the waters.
