What a great special on Danielle and plug for Colgate ! It was long and showed the campus, her family, skating as a mite and interview with her. I can't wait to see USA -- Canada sunday again at five. I have to buy an SRO ticket so far.

Danielle secures the gold for Canada in OT. How great is that for her and Colgate hockey. Back in '22 when she won the Rivalry Series game in OT it was spectacular, but winning this truly great final for the Worlds is unbelievable. What a money player under pressure. She will be so much fun to watch as a pro and for years to come on the Canadian Women's team! Congratulations Danielle

Bittersweet getting the Silver, but Danielle scoring the winner in OT sweetened the pot. Two OT games against Canada, 20 mins away for me. A memory for life ! A little melancholy that it's over this am. Bring on the Stanley Cup Playoffs !

Agree on the bittersweet part but that US team is almost 1/4 WI talent so for me it almost erased our Frozen 4 loss this year and last year's quarters loss. I think yesterday's final was one of the best women's hockey games ever. Nonstop action. All these US/CAN games put the men's Frozen 4 to shame in terms of heart thumping action. High level women's hockey is a great product...and with that US team having Sidney Morrow on its playing roster next year, they will win because it's their turn. I also loved that the ECAC won the game. Ambrose/Clarkson got the assist on Danielle's backhand.

I'd have to double-check the numbers, but I think there were six Wisconsin players - current and former - on the US team, and five on the Canadian team. A UW player had an assist on the championship OT game winner.

RE, you're correctly including ARD who of course started the play, but I think there is a more likely "unofficial" assister who is a present UW player and wants no credit, Kirsten Simms "unindicted co-extra player at large" rightfully paying penance in the box for her preliminary round OT winner.

That was a hell of a tough call, but to UW's incredible good fortune and Mark Johnson's great recruiting you have in NH's own Caroline Harvey the best 21 and under (including Laila Edwards who is herself fantastic) and arguably the best woman hockey player on the planet bar none! For me it's hard to appreciate how great she is until you see her at this top level playing against other truly great players in games like this. There aren't enough elite, elite players in college hockey even at WI to see her sparkle like in these games and I saw her in person two weeks ago in the Frozen 4. If she was a guy she'd have been drafted first three years ago and would be making 7 figures a year having skipped Madison entirely...

The overtime winner US vs Canada in the opening round was Harvey passing to Simms to score a goal on DesBiens. Who am I supposed to root for there?!?

Nice problem to have, but I prefer supporting our small, beautiful liberal arts college in the middle of NY state that has no NIL money or standard graduate programs to lure COVID 5th years, just a desire for a great education and damn good hockey. I'll take being David to the WCHA member's Goliath (except St. Thomas) any day, though I do like the coach of UMD and shook her hand in Durham...

I understand your position, but just as an FYI, most WCHA members aren't UW, UM, tOSU size. UMD is about the same size as St. Thomas, sub 10K, and Bemidji is just a little over half the size of those two. Larger than Colgate, but not really Goliath.

Recent updates from https://gopherpucklive.com/transfer-portal/
Osborne withdrew from portal, listed as staying at Colgate. Does anyone have further info?
Betinol to University of British Columbia.

According to https://www.therinklive.com/womens-c...ransfer-portal Holk is transferring to Quinnipiac.

And some very good news: Forward Alexis Peford (Stonehill College) with two years remaining is listed as transferring to Colgate (https://www.eliteprospects.com/playe...alexis-petford). She was Stonehill's top scorer this past year. She scored Stonehill's only goal in their 7-1 loss to Cornell in this year's NCAA first round game played at Colgate. She was named USCHO Third Team this year. See https://twitter.com/NicoleHaase/stat...00275600457762 .

Rightnut, on the transfer portal site, indicated that KO who took her name off the site is not coming back to Gate but rather signing up for the PWHL draft...interesting

As the new head coach of the #2 girls hockey team and arguably the best girls hockey program in North America this year, I choose to think more like it's great that she has gone home to Rochester but as a life long Raider she'll now be in a position to sing Colgate's praises to some of the best high school players in the world. She's gone from our bench but I am sure Greg will have access like he's never had before to another great pool of talent. When she leaves BK Selects if she ever does she'll be a Div 1 head coach wherever she wants. Both she and Colgate win here. Breanne will be a very able replacement knowing our system and Greg and Stefan inside and out. Fun to see who we get to replace Breanne though.

considering that Shattuck St-Mary's won the National Championships at both 16U and 19U this season, I'm not sure there is much argument about what is the "best girls hockey program in North America this year";)

Acknowledged and much respect accorded, but you'll note I used the modifier "arguably" for exactly that reason. The one difference is Shattuck's has been there forever and BK Selects is the new kid on the block after a metioric rise. Will be a blast to watch in the years to come, Chelsea can really coach and recruit!
