Brexit 2: Happy Halloween

The presser she gave today was... not good. She looks totally out of her depth

Don't be an optimist. It was not her finest hour.

Somebody wrote an article the other day that sacking a PM never turns out well. I'll try to find it and post the link here.

EDIT: More stuff from the land of Chuckie 3.0:

@higginscartoons
The PM Liz Truss, not best known for her critical thinking, is currently straining to come up with a plausible sacking plan for the Chancellor, Kwasi Kwarteng.

Simon and Garfunkel's '50 Ways to Leave your Lover' might help, Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive'... won't.

Watching the (missing) PM Questions. She's toast.

An entertaining channel is Great Britain News (GBN). It's on ROKU. Most of you won't like it as it resembles FOXN, but it has a couple of entertaining hours in Nigel Farage (2pm ET), followed by Mark Steyn.

Shocking that you like GBN, Nigel Farage, and Mark Steyn.

Joe is a good guy who fell in with a bad crowd. My best friend growing up married a southern Republican and the same thing happened.

Sometimes bad things happen to good people.

No, just no. He’s a POS who’s always been a POS and now just doesn’t hide it as much.

If he walks like a fascist and talks like a fascist…

My impression of Joe is he shares my birth defect: Catholicism. Some of us fight it to remission (there is no known cure), but some are overwhelmed by the tissue damage of Neo-Thomist infection and the special pleading of the various lost souls of ACADEMIA OPUS DEI. Cf. Scalia.

Being raised a certain way doesn’t excuse someone from being a POS. Especially when given evidence, and being able understand said evidence, that some things you grew up on were wrong and you instead double down on being a POS.

Ok, I know literally nothing about polling in the UK, whether this is a good outfit or how this map was created, but i'm seeing this poll all over and given the status of the government over there... but holy shit

https://twitter.com/ElectionMapsUK/s...39734846574592

What *that* @RedfieldWilton poll could look like in a General Election:
LAB: 515 (+313)
LDM: 47 (+36)
SNP: 42 (-6)
CON: 22 (-343)
PLC: 4 (=)
GRN: 1 (=)

Labour Majority of 380. Changes w/ GE2019.

Holy shit. Apparently Rees-Mogg, Johnson, and Truss all lose their local elections in this scenario.

Edit: LMAO, this is the second poll today that shows the opposition party being either SNP or LDM. Unreal.

Nigel farage, holy crap.

makes sense. That was the guy who laughed after brexit and said “did you really think we’d give the extra money to nhs” after running those nhs ads on buses

Knowing Catholics, that's not the core problem. The core is that people like him justify some incredibly anti-Christian things for the sake of their tribe power. How many times has joe been called out for some clearly non-Christian actions- like taking kids from their parents as some kind of punishment for a misdemeanor? Or how they worship a guy who has bragged that he molested contestants of his shows? Or how healthcare should be earned as opposed to humanitarian?

I can go on, but it's him being a total paranoid POS that isn't willing to compare his thoughts with what he thinks he is in terms of being a Christian. He's the kind of guy who thinks that Jesus would totally go after being a billionaire, so being greedy with every single penny and nerve has to be right. Let alone he thinks he's better than other people- who tend to be very Christian (most countries to the south of the US are majority Catholic- one should not have to remind you).

And when pointed out of his thinking flaws, he'll just lash out the he's being attacked, yadda, yadda....

Basically, he's just another republican.

My mom was raised baptist and is basically a straight ticket D voter for as long as I can remember. It ain't religion. It's just big-amygdala, small-frontal-lobe hate masquerading as christianity.

Almost nobody abandons the lies they absorbed at the knee of their parents. It doesn't excuse it, but it explains it. People take in religious bigotries like poison. A really determined parent can ruin their kid unless they are extremely smart.

I was fortunate in that my parents taught me thinking for yourself is more important than dogma in intellectual matters. (Not in moral matters, there they taught the old thought-terminating prejudices and I needed the escape velocity of my arrogance and sex drive to reject.) It could be Joe was raised by people who instilled respect for tradition over logic and humanity. Or maybe I'm completely wrong and he doesn't have intellectual rationalizations at all but just has the envy and spite of the typical Dumpy. But I like him in general so I do not want to think of him as part of that group of losers.

My entire family was raised Catholic and none of them buy the BS that Joe does.

Not all Catholics have the hatreds of the Whore of Babylon -- many are "cafeteria" Catholics, meaning they don't check their brains at the door of the church. But sometimes you run into a real dingleberry like Scalia or Alito or Kavanaugh.

You never cease to surprise me. Who is the "fascist" here? The one who silences and mocks all that disagree with him/her or one who politely disagrees or just has a different political view?

You're Woodrow Wilson - progressive bigots who would jail all that opposed him.

And yes - I am a Roman Catholic who doesn't eat at the cafeteria. Too bad. You can't pick and choose doctrine of whatever faith you belong to. If you want to, join the Jesuits.
