>>> RIT Tigers 2021-22 Season Thread <<<

Checked out the Reddit transfer portal thread, and it looks like Calverly is headed to Merrimack next season. Also shows Matt Kellenberger a defenseman from Princeton coming to the Tigers. Kellenberger only shows 3 years on the Princeton roster, so he should have 2 seasons of eligibility left as he lost the 20-21 season as the Ivies cancelled due to covid.. Added: Kellenberger scored 4 goals last season, and two of those were against RIT.

Anyone know when we can start offering scholarships? Is it going to be phased in for our recruits, or are (some) current players going to be rewarded with them once the administration dots their i's and crosses their t's?

I know it's not going to be like flipping a switch getting the scholarships up and running, but we badly need some offensive talent brought in and you'd think RIT would be an easy sell comparatively to other AHA schools with their following and facilities once the money factor evens out.

I don't know specific details beyond what Wayne Wilson has said, and that's that they will be offering them both for recruits and to existing players. I don't think we'll know much more than that going forward. But I have been told that the scholarships are already having an impact.

RIT has what looks to be a really good recruiting class coming in with some size and scoring up front. You can view the unofficial recruiting listing here (scroll down to RIT): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...1z3rdKeNcOXj-KK4cirID5rro/edit#gid=1466169803

That was an interesting read. Will be waiting to hear what comes out of the mid-May AHA meeting. Could add a little drama to the rest of the off season. I know the Utica folks are beating each other up as to a move up is good or bad. I guess we'll see fairly soon.

Don't be surprised if none of it happens.

14 home and 12 road. I get why they can't do even scheduling with 26 games and Air Force in the mix (13 weekends can't be divided evenly), but it still kinda sticks in the craw...

I planned to join but had a conflict. Was anyone else able to attend, and was anything of significance shared regarding scholarships, future schedules, etc?

Nothing about future schedules. Quite a bit of discussion about scholarships. Current players are receiving some of them, and Wayne said three of this year's incoming recruits were landed because of them. Coach talked a bit about the incoming class, which has a lot of size, speed, and scoring ability.

A video should be up within two weeks of Monday's webinar.

Awesome, thanks Ed!

Per social media, schedule is out.

League schedule starts early, with a single non-conference game at Union before hosting Army on October 7 and 8. Then we host Union at Blue Cross Arena on the 15th, and that's our last NC game until Thanksgiving, when Princeton comes to town (though we do have an exhibition against the U.S. Development Team the week before). Home and Home with Penn State for New Year's. Then a trip to Arizona for two in January.

For league play we host Army, Holy Cross, Sacred Heart, Canisius, Mercyhurst, Bentley, and Air Force. We travel to Air Force, AIC, Canisius, Bentley, Holy Cross, and Niagara.

The home schedule is a bit front loaded, with five home games in October and five more in November, versus only three and two road games. On the other hand, we have only three home games between New Year's Day and Valentine's Day compared to nine road games. But then we finish up with two consecutive home weekends against Bentley and Air Force.

Any new updates from AHA?

From what I've heard, there will be no decisions on teams being added until a new commissioner is chosen, which is pretty much what I was hearing before May.

I also wonder if they prefer to wait until Robert Morris is playing again anyway - stay at 10 for this year, then potentially go to 12 next year, staying at an even number of teams.

The other big thing that everyone is waiting on in regards to league expansion is the NCAA Transformation Committee. No one wants to make commitments now on league size, members, etc if this committee then makes drastic changes in areas like tournament auto-qualification. So I think everyone is just holding on at this point until they see what the NCAA does, or even if the NCAA continues to exist.
