>>> RIT Tigers 2021-22 Season Thread <<<

Well, split achieved :-)

Nice night in general for AHA. 3-1 with Mercyhurst beating Ohio State and us and HC taking care of lower tier ECAC teams.

Would be nice for Coach to pick up his 400th win at Hobey Baker Memorial Rink although I think it will be a tall task tonight. I saw Princeton at Tate Rink and they were rusty but I think that rink rust should be worn off by now, no team enjoys being swept in their own barn.

Hope our Tigers realize that a win tonight would be a great way to get to 400 for Coach.. Btw nice to see you all posting.

Scarfone with the shutout to ruin Princeton's Teddy Bear toss and get Coach his 400th win.

So now that I am getting older and don't have as much time on my hands...

Does anyone have AHA Out Of Conference numbers? I'm curious to see the numbers over the years....

USCHO has those stats here. Prior seasons can be selected in the drop-down below the data table. Of course, data from last year should probably be omitted from any comparison.

Cheers!!! (…and good to “see” you, Tom!)

Someone's gotta rise this thread from the grave...

Good weekend to pull Bentley back to the pack and to rejoin the conversation for a 2nd round home playoff series as well. The play of Scarfone has been encouraging as well.

Big game tomorrow against Army, will be interesting to see which goalie gets the call now that they've been splitting weekends. An 8 point 3 game weekend would be huge and would get them even with Canisius for 3rd and 1 point back of Bentley for 2nd after 18 games played (and Army would be one point behind us in 5th with 19 games played).

With 10 teams are only the bottom 4 playing the opening weekend of the playoffs, with 6 @ 3 and 5 @ 4 locked in for the 2nd round of the playoffs?

They are actually playing Sacred Heart tomorrow, but at Army's rink. It's a makeup from the postponed Jan 2 game.

You are correct on the tournament:

You're right, I just came back here to fix that . So they'd be one point up on Army with equal games played.

And in this format I think I'd actually rather be the 3 seed than the 2 seed. The 2 seed has to play the best team that actually won the week before and might have to shake off a little bit of rust themselves. The quality of the 6 vs the 7 (or 8 or 9 if there's a 7 v 10 upset) really hasn't been that large historically in the AHA, and you're guaranteed to get a team feeling good about themselves after a series win if you're the number 2 seed.

I guess "home team advantage" matters a little due to last change when it comes to the semis if the top 3 seeds all get there, but at this point I'd rather just maximize the chances to get there.

Might have been their most complete conference performance of the season today. Hopefully they can keep that momentum rolling. A 5 or 6 point weekend over AIC is probably the only thing that could insert a little bit of drama into the race for the conference title - but they also can't afford to get swept and wipe out the ground they gained on the road over the last week in terms of getting the 2nd round home series.

EDIT: Just saw the boxscore. 0 shots allowed in the 3rd. Impressive. I wonder if coach brought up the last meeting between the two teams where RIT nearly gave up a 3 goal lead and had to hold on for dear life at the end during the 2nd intermission.

Entering the home stretch and it's all there in front of them despite the somewhat inconsistent season. Solidly in 3rd with a game in hand on the chasers with a somewhat friendly schedule coming in (albeit 5 of 6 on the road). Get that home ice series and get to the semis and anything can happen in single elimination, even if AIC is pretty clearly still the class of the conference.

Perhaps the 5 of 6 games on the road isn't the worst...
Home: 5-7-2 / Away: 7-4-2

Well true to form another roller coaster couple of weeks, but one win gets them the home playoff series next week.

the big question is which version of the Tigers fly out to CO this week. The one that dismantled Bentley and SHU, or the one that bussed to Erie. The inconsistency has been killing. I'd love to be able to see them at the AUD in March, but the on off way they've played since December leaves me wondering.

The only way RIT finishes 5th is with a Sacred Heart regulation win and a RIT regulation loss. If that doesn't happen, they're 3rd if they get more points than Army, and 4th if they do not.

they can't catch Canisius because they have all tiebreakers.

FYI: The standings on uscho's site are wrong. They have Army at 41 points instead of 40 and Niagara at 33 instead of 34.

The discrepancy is their game on 11/19. Uscho has it as an Army SO win, CHN and Army's own website says Niagara won the shootout

Air Force needs a regulation win to get the first round bye (or some combination of points AND points losses by Bentley, Niagara and Mercyhurst) so expect them to play with desperation tonight. AFA loses the tie breaker to Bentley, but would win it over NU and Mercyhurst.

The potentially good news is that RIT's standings only depend on SHU and Army, as jflory81 posted, and they play each other at 1pm so we could have locked up 4th place before puck drop if SHU does not win in regulation. RIT does have the tie breaker against SHU as jflory implied above.

For all the RIT Fans going to Tate Rink at West Point to see Army play SHU this afternoon, (I guess that would only be me.. lol, the only guy in Tate Rink behind the visitors bench wearing an RIT jersey, (it's a tough job but someone has to do it)), I believe the game starts at 4:05pm, unless something changed...
