The GQP Thread: I'm even sick of that fuck's number and, anyway, he's gone (for now)

Not enough terrible things can happen to Jones. I hope he ends up in jail for the multiple perjuries. I hope his ex wife (who I know nothing about and don't want to assume she's a good person) gets their kids because I can't imagine someone being a worse parent than Alex. I hope his followers end up in jail if they've taken part in harassment.

I've been following this with glee. I listen to a podcast dissecting his deposition and this trial. My word, this guy doesn't know how to stop lying.

Also, the crazy part about this is that this is the penalty phase for this trial. He did not comply with discovery requirements, despite repeatedly insisting he did (and now they have him dead to rights on that) and a summary judgement was entered against him. Insulting the jury on his show while on trial seems like a poor choice.

In short, fuck Alex Jones and his sheep. He is at the root of so many of our nation's problems right now.

The fucked up part is, he chose not to comply with discovery and got nailed for it as you said. Now he is whining that he isn't able to defend himself because of the summary judgement because of his stupid choice. And his incel loser fans are buying all of it.

I really think that was part of his strategy, which is all part of his grift. Refuse to participate while shouting that it's a show trial and not legitimate. He knew he had no defense so he just accepted the summary judgement, divested almost all the corporate assets (as if that would stop the plaintiffs) and now files for bankruptcy. I think his current lawyers* sending his entire phone and then not claiming any privilege is a major crack in the plan.

It all seems ridiculous and stupid until you realize that his grasp of civics and due process isn't any better than that of a 4th grader (or of an average Trump voter). He truly seems to think that if he sticks to his story that he honestly believed this nonsense that he's indemnified fully. He truly seems to think that he's a "real journalist".

* I think he's on something like his 11th set of lawyers at this point, which says a lot in and of itself.

I haven't been following closely, but I thought he lost a jury trial on liability, not summary judgment.

Probably...and it would have been a good strategy if, you know, he had competent lawyers.

BTW there is a lot of people who seem to think the lawyer did this "accidentally on purpose" if you get my drift. Alex loves a good conspiracy I wonder if he thinks that is cool?

I have a hard time believing the attorney meant to do this, as it's one of the very few things that would run them obviously afoul of the bar.

By what order of severity would the following be punished in Dante's hell?

Trump
R. Murdoch
T. Cruz (and his ilk)
Bannon
Jones
T. Carlson
Giulliani
Joe Maga

I feel like Trump and his media supporters (Murdoch, Bannon and Carlson) are the worst. Cruz and the rest are wind blown scumbags that would just cling to whomever is beneficial to them, like the human remora fish that they are.

I dont either, but it is funny to think about.

The truth is he put the phone file in the wrong Dropbox...christ Freshmen in HS don't make that mistake!

Worst -- Harming people, when you know better, to make a buck: Murdoch, Jones, Bannon, McConnell, Giuliani
Next worst -- Harming people, when you know better, for authoritarian power: Cruz, Carlson, Hawley, Alito, Thomas
Only sick -- Malevolent narcissists: Dump
Only pathetic -- Too stupid to know better losers: MTG, Boebert, Johnson, Gabbard, Republican voters, MAGA cultists, InfoWars, OANN, Newsmax, and Fox viewers, Hate Radio listeners, and Q saps.

Popehat pointing out that the lesson that we should be learning from the Jones phone issue is that we should be complying with discovery orders. The inadvertent release of the whole phone (and subsequent lack of clawback) is evidence that converts the matter from summary judgement/possible contempt to full perjury, but not complying with discovery was the initial offense here.

As is the case, this will go down in the notebook for future criminals...

Just like how Capone showed later editions of organized crime how to operate (both the good and bad).

Had a couple co-workers float this theory this morning, and I agree with you. Even though it may have been the "right" thing to do, as his legal counsel Jones' attorney is still obligated to act in the best interest of his client. The fact is that by the time you've cycled through a dozen attorneys, you're probably scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the competence of the twelfth one.
