Liam Neeson has to be there for game 1 right?
The Space Needle/Anchor secondary logo is just *chefs kiss*.Alright. I'm a little disappointed in the lack of PNW green, but I love the S logo. It eludes to the indigenous designs of the area, the negative space in the S is a tentacle, the bright red eye in the S, and it's all a callback to the Seattle Metropolitans logo.
And the Space Needle / anchor secondary logo? Awesome.
I'm all in.
Wild is no longer the worst name in sports I don't care what any of you say.
They did it. The mad lads f-ing did it.
I’m buying a jersey.
It's still the worst, but now there's competition.
Am I the only one that saw the color scheme of the Kraken and thought, "did the Sharks do something new here"?
I never hated the name "Wild" tbh and never understood the opposition. There is a decent amount of wilderness in the state, people love the outdoors there despite the weather and the logo encapsulates much of it. I don't say that as a homer of the franchise (I'm a pseudo fan because my heart left with the North Stars) but as a resident of the state I think it fits. It's not a "I'll die on a hill" opinion but...
"Minnesota Wilderness" would have been an OK name.
"Minnesota Wild" is the tipsy, low self-esteem blonde you take home at last call and double bag because of the possibility of transmission. She was cute in high school but that was 15 very hard partying years ago.
She's a realtor.

"Wilderness" would be clunky so your opinion is not surprising. Nothing you wrote there applies to my thoughts on it but I understand misplacing people into silos is your thing.
6 NYC Dodgers, Giants (2x), Mets, Knicks, Islanders (but out of far more candidate names)

1 KC Royals? <-- I don't know if this is clever, it has something to do with cows; I'm not joking

Well I'm glad we understand each other.
The tl; dr is Wild sucks. But again, the North Stars were the best logo and name in history so anything that came after sucked.
I would actually give Minnesota the award for highest quality of sports team names: North Stars, Vikings, Lakers, and Twins are all fantastic names.
Does any other city have a sweep of major sport names that combine clever local reference AND cool? Only NYC, and that's hardly a fair comparison because there have been a billion NYC teams.

I'm not even a big fan of the current franchise (I might have already said that sorry). I simply think it's quite apt for the location. I could be wrong but I believe a kraken is a mythical character from between Norway and Greenland. That has what to do with Seattle?
Ah, found the one guy who lived in the PNW but has never heard of Ballard.Nothing, which is why it's not clever. It's riding a wave of current fad hype. c.f. Raptors. It's a childish name.
In 10 years people will be like, "my god this name is an albatross. Hey, I have an idea!"
Plus I gotta think there must be a dozen legendary PNW sea monsters.

Washington, and Seattle especially, has a lot of old cultural links to Norway and Sweden. The fishing and timber industries were especially full of immigrants from Norway and Sweden.
I like the Kraken name. It’s not Totems or Metropolitans like I wanted but it’s weird and everyone else hates it. It fits Seattle to a tee.
