I agree! This board is terrible now!
I am shocked that there has not been an overt statement that they recognize a problem and are seeking a solution. That you have 10 second load times for a simple post is unacceptable.

It turns out that seven (7) Hockey East games were played this weekend but few in the Hockey East forum seem to be interested in Hockey East hockey anymore.
Just because it's happening doesn't mean I have to agree with it. It's mostly just pandering to the people who want to shame them for playing in the first place.

And speaking as a militant Independent, I would observe that overt disrespect and inability to debate without ad hominem attacks and name calling are not exclusive to the political right.

Split....please provide examples where this is true...respond with examples of "left leaning" posters...
Or more likely, someone in the organizations who are playing with masks made the decision it is the right thing to do.
You of course have no evidence of it being pandering in any way and instead are choosing to flame-throw on the issue.
Back when Hockey East agreed they were going to play, they couldn't decide on a policy for either wearing masks or not wearing them? There was no leading expert saying masks need to be worn in a scenario where the athletes are being closely monitored and tested? Why aren't they wearing masks in college basketball or the NBA? It's just up to every individual school? With BC football not having any issues and men's hockey not having any so far, does BC have dumb people in charge because they aren't mandating masks? So yes, I think if someone is making these players wear masks i absolutely think it's pandering. Not sure how i would prove it as I don't have access to emails and recorded phone calls. It's just an opinion.
BC did NOT get through the year though with no negative tests. They had positive tests before playing Virginia.
The AD also said they didn't want to be in a position where they prepare for a bowl, players can't go home to their families and then the bowl game gets canceled last minute.
I just find this very odd that the women's programs seem to be taking this much differently than the men.
Not sure that is true. Syracuse, Colgate and Clarkson women all played without masks.
Eric, leading up to the bowl game Jeff Hafley was looking for a way to reward the team for the sacrifices they made in order to play a football season. Traditionally a bowl game is all about the experience, you know, "bowl week". With that part of it not really in play this year they let the players decide between a bowl game or going home and spending Christmas with their families. Families a lot of them haven't seen since June. Players reportedly voted to go home and BC administration accepted that. And I don't blame the players at all here. I totally understand their decision.

Regarding masks, it is pretty clear to anyone with half a brain that they are helpful in "normal life" settings. Are they as useful in athletic situations where players are tested and in a semi-bubble? We don't know for sure, but clearly different organizations are treating it differently so there is obviously no league wide directive.
