I think some people just don't like their faces on social media. And good or fun ideas (like using an emoji) spread in communities first before they catch on with other groups. At least that's how I imagine it happening.

They just thought it'd be cool to pose with a Nazi flag and didn't get any encouragement from, or have it normalized by, adult "role models".“This isn’t a true reflection of them or our school,” Phillips said. “Right now, we’re still in the phase of talking individually with our students.
