What a difference from 20 or 30 years ago, when a college player in the NHL was so rare. Who was the first alum from your school to win a Stanley cup?
Interesting, since the Washington Capitals have never won the Stanley Cup. Furthermore, College Hockey, Inc. lists Mike Peluso being the first and only UAA player to have his name etched on the Stanley Cup.

Vintage Minnesota Hockey states he signed with the Tulsa Oilers on their Eveleth Hockey First 50 Years 1903 - 1952 page, while Wikipedia has him playing 8 games for the AHA Chicago Shamrocks in 1930-31 on their page on him and the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame, on their Bio page for him, states he played for the Rangers, an amateur club, while attending Eveleth Junior College after playing three years for Eveleth High School. The early NCAA Ice Hockey Rules and Official Ice Hockey Guides from the period have many photos of both college and high school teams, which I as far as I can determine are from the previous season. The 1929-30 guide has the Eveleth High School team photo with Mike Karakas front and center (and team captain according to the caption) and the 1930-31 guide has photos of both the Eveleth Junior College and High School teams, but he is not in either photo. Based on the photos and other information I have found it appears highly unlikely he played for the Eveleth Junior College team, but instead played for the Rangers and then the Chicago Shamrocks.MIKE KARAKAS went to Eveleth Junior College, although I don't know if he played for them. He did win the Stanley cup as the goalie in 1938.
Sorry to hear that.Yep. And Peluso is a basket case these days. So many concussions from the fighting back then.
15 Badger alums on the Cup, plus, of course, Badger Bob Johnson.
The first was (now retired Sharks VP) goalie Wayne Thomas in '73 with the Habs.
First multi-Cup winner was Brian Engblom ('77-'79) also with the Habs.
Last was Justin Schultz with the Penguins.

It appears that Thomas's name was not engraved on the Cup nor was Engblom's in 1977.The first was (now retired Sharks VP) goalie Wayne Thomas in '73 with the Habs.

I always thought Bob Johnson was a UM alum.
It appears that Thomas's name was not engraved on the Cup nor was Engblom's in 1977.
