Your school's All-Time Team (D-I and D-III alike!)

PrezdeJohnson09

Proud supporter of Osmirwich hockey
I started this thread on the D-III men's board and its generated some pretty interesting discussion to help us get through the dog days of summer.

Rules are simple...Two teams from your school consisting of three forwards, two defenseman and a goalie.

Have at it!

I'll be compiling one for Elmira and one for Norwich.

At this point I agree with the Cindy Fortin....big game tender and holds a lot of the NU records, but if Fisk continues to progress she may own many of those and you may need to change the 2 around:)

Fortin also has a ring that she was between the pipes for.

That is true, however I do not equate a "ring" with being a better tender.....she also had the benefit of not only Julie Fortier but that along with a kid named Sophie Leclerc helping in that ring winning....perhaps one of the best to lace them up at D3 regarless of what anyone says this kid controlled games , with and without the puck. Kelly will not have the 2 of them for 4 years...............

Cindy still has the edge but was a 4 year starter and Kelly will only have 3 and the way that program recruits goalies she may not get all of them:), I am just saying that Fisk has 2 more years to add to her accomplishments and she had 20+ wins in her 1st full season:)

Re: Your school's All-Time Team (D-I and D-III alike!)

Really no one else wants to get in on this? Plenty of RIT fans on this board...obserbear? Bowdoin/Amherst? gojackets, I know you're itching to put one together for Superior.

I guess I'll throw Oswego's out there since I'm at it now.

Oswego State Women's Hockey All-Time Team:

First Team
F. Kelly Collins '12
F. Jenna Kirkwood '10
F. Mackenzie Lee '12
D. Angie Friesen '10
D. Kathryn Sbrocchi '12
G. Emi Williams '11

Second Team
F. Stepahnie Esposito '09

Re: Your school's All-Time Team (D-I and D-III alike!)

For Plattsburgh, I'll simply enter the entire team from the undefeated championship season of 2008-09. Still an NCAA record and tough to top.

I was thinking the same about this year's RIT team. It's tough to debate anyone was better, especially now that they hold the NCAA record with 28 wins.

That would have been a fun game to watch. 2006-07 Plattsburgh vs 2011-12 RIT

Only get 12 spots ;)

Still not enough spots.

It's a little easier for Norwich-5 years old, Elmira-10 years old, and Oswego-6 years old, to make teams for them.
You probably still know everyone. RIT is 30+ years old, with a lot of talented players throughout the years.
I'd hate to leave off someone, but like I said above, it's tough to justify the players in the past were better than the players from the last 3-4 years.

I'll come up with something soon.

Re: Your school's All-Time Team (D-I and D-III alike!)

Well, I'll take a crack on the Minnesota teams... and I'm just going to have to go pretty much by the record books.

First Team
F - Krissy Wendell ('05)
F - Natalie Darwitz ('05)
F - Nadine Muzerall ('01)
D - Winny Brodt ('03)
D - Anne Schleper ('12)
G - Noora Räty ('13)

Second Team
F - Kelly Stephens ('05)
F - Ambria Thomas ('01)
F - Gigi Marvin ('09)
D - Courtney Kennedy ('01)
D - Megan Bozek ('13)
G - Jody Horak ('05)

I am going to give a honorable mention goaltender shout-out to Erica Killewald ('01), who held the all-time team record for shutouts until Räty broke it. I really had trouble deciding between Killewald and Horak for the second team, but Horak currently holds the team wins record and had a better goals-against average.

I also had trouble not including some other key contributors from the past few years -- Bobbi Ross, Emily West, and Jen Schoullis -- on these lists. But I couldn't get around the fact that Stephens and Thomas are part of the 200-point club, and were first and second in the team's all-time plus-minus ratings. The only one of the six forwards not in the 200-point club is Marvin, and she had 195.

I will say that, while I can't put Amanda Kessel on the list currently, she may displace Marvin in the near future. The question with Kessel is whether or not she will come back for her senior season after the 2014 Olympics (assuming that she makes US squad); even if she doesn't, she still may make the second team.

For the defenders, it was a bit easier. Brodt, Schleper, and Kennedy make up the 100-point club, and Bozek will likely join them before the winter break next season. 'Nuff said.

That's why we have message boards to discuss these matters that in the end of the day, mean absolutely nothing. But, they help us pass the time from one hockey season to the next. :)

Sorry, I could only take a stab at the last eight years of players. The first 20+ years I know nothing about.

Elmira College Women:

First Team:
F: Laura Hurd '05
F: Kayla Coady '09
F: Lauryn Depaul '10
D: Jamie Kivi '10
D: Ana Steele-Norton '10
G: Allison Cubberley '09

Second Team:
F: Jackie O'Neil '06
F: Stefanie McLean '07
F: Jillyane DeBus (even though it was only for 1 season, she was fantastic, huge loss for the program)
D: Tiffany Hart '10
D: Stacey Calic '06
G: Edith Racine '05

I never saw Laura Hurd or Racine play, but Hurd's statistics speak for themselves. We have had some exceptional offensive talent, and Jamie Kivi is by far our all time greatest defender, in my opinion.

Re: Your school's All-Time Team (D-I and D-III alike!)

He meant 2006-07. Plattsburgh 27-0-2.

My mistake...this's what you get when you ask your daughter which year she went undefeated...however, that team was a monster!! Even though the off ice team chemistry was crap.
