Your one do-over.

Re: Your one do-over.

also: of course I second all sentiments on Travis Roy. I recently read his book, Eleven Seconds. it's just heart-wrenching. if anyone's interested, you can make donations to Travis' foundation here: http://www.travisroyfoundation.org/. they do a lot of great work supporting science and individual grants to people with spinal cord injuries.

I got a signed letter from Travis after I donated, which made me think: man, he has to put a pen in his mouth even just to write his name. poor guy.

Re: Your one do-over.

For SCSU...

Just one do over?? Cripes, we need like 8 of them....

But if I had to pick one it would be against Michigan where Szabo's (I think?) skate was like 2 inches in the crease which cost us a goal and then Harty beating the goaltender on a breakaway only to have the puck roll off his stick.. :(

Re: Your one do-over.

1992 NCAA Championship UW vs LSSU. UW loses (5-3) in a penalty filled game where the officials were pretty 1 sided against UW. This idoit ECAC ref called the game tighter than a no contact girls game, and even then he left some stuff go and called other ticky tacky stuff. LSSU scored the go ahead 4th goal when the puck snuck between Duane Derksen's pad and the post in the 3rd period. I can see it like it was just yesterday. I can also see like yesterday the gloves and sticks of UW players getting thrown at the empty net goal at the end of the game. An ugly finish to an ugly game. Too bad Duane couldn't get that 2nd NCAA ring...

Tim McConaugh. It helps to say it out loud.

(Actually, after all these years I'm not sure I've got the spelling correct.)

Well, I can spell it for you -- Tim McConaghy -- but aw hell, boys, do we really need to talk about this? Gah. :(

Heck, for St. Cloud, I would have thought you would have picked the Molly game and kept a certain cheerleader's mouth shut. ;)

Yes, that game was called much tighter than anyone would like to see in a championship game, but the penalty totals weren't all that one sided. It was something like 12 penalties on UW and 10 on LSSU; whatever the actual figures, there was only a differential of 2. I think there were 3 or 4 two man advantages for LSSU, and 1 for UW, none of which were for a full 2 minutes.

Re: Your one do-over.

It'll put me one over my quota - but I can't let the thread go without mentioning another:

That Corey Tropp's stick hadn't made news, and Kampfer Sr. could watch his son play on home ice.

Re: Your one do-over.

2001 Hockey East Championship game. Can we please have the third period over again?

Re: Your one do-over.

For the whole of college hockey: Travis Roy a few feet further from the boards, as mentioned earlier. No brainer.

For my beloved Dartmouth Big Green: The November '04 game against Princeton where Hugh Jessiman injured his ankle on a freak play. It's sad to see Hugh's name tossed around as a punchline the way it was in New York, and I think if he'd gotten through that season in reasonable health, that wouldn't be the case. Equally important, that should have been the best team of the Gaudet era, with five future NHL players (Lewis, Jones, Glass, Stempniak, Lovejoy) on one team, along with Jessiman (who SHOULD be the sixth), Nick Johnson, J.T. Wyman and Mike Ouellette. That team should have gone to the tournament, and if it had, we wouldn't still be wondering if Dartmouth will ever get over the hump.
Coincidentally, Jessiman might very well be involved in Glen Sather's one do-over as GM of the Rangers, and as an alienated Rangers fan, hiring Glen Sather might be one of my other do-overs too.

Re: Your one do-over.

The end of the 2002 season, DU, #1 seed, was 32-7-1 and "got" to play at Yost against Michigan in the NCAA regional. Gwozdecky was up for the Penrose. Frozen Four here we come. OOOPs the away team, Michigan won the game.
Do over--not have to play Michigan at yost, play in a different region. Or Win the game.

Re: Your one do-over.

I know someone else who wants a do-over...

If only there was video of Sean Fields from a few years back...

Re: Your one do-over.

For Bemidji State, I could go two ways with this and mean the same thing:

I'd take back the flukiest injury I've ever seen in this game (BSU's top player, current Columbus Bluejacket, Andrew Murray, accidently gets bumped (not hard even) headding back to the bench and breaks his collar bone - he's done for the season, BSU's first D-I NCAA birth)

Or, I'd make Murray heal in time for this game.

For my other team, Northern Michigan - I'd go with their loss to BC (2-1) back in the NCAA Regionals in 1999. I go with that because it reamains the only NCAA appearance since I've followed the 'Cats, and for a while it looked like NMU had BC on the ropes. Also, I was set to board a bus if NMU won and watch the next game (vs. NoDak) for the right to play in the Frozen Four. Also, it looked like NMU was on the rise, and they have struggled to get back to the NCAA's. Had they won that game, maybe the program gets a boost from it...
