Your new Los Angeles Vikings

Don't knock it. It's an extra 17-20 dates a year for the stadium. It's how the Seahawks got their stadium built.

Sure. But it would seem a silly thing to scupper the stadium bill over.

Not to hijack the thread with MLS talk, but the Twin Cities have to be wayyyyy down the expansion list,I would think.

Stadium, Owner, Expansion Fee money. Have all 3 and you jump to the top of the MLS expansion list. And the Twin Cities is towards the top if this pans out.

But it is silly to defeat the bill with.

I doubt way down...but I'm sure not at the top. The MN Kicks had quite a bit better attendance than today's MSL averages...with their top year at 32k doubling today's MSL averages.

Not at the top for sure. MLS wants a second NYC team somewhere in NYC plus a group in Orlando that is really pushing as well. But the TC could definitely push with a stadium and owner with cash.

Re: Your new Los Angeles Vikings

Indeed. The tax revenue payoff for the state based on past reports appears compelling. But it will give small govt proponents something to bring up going forward.

So often politics can be a disaster. Yet whether your for this outcome or not...IMO here's an example where two sides got together and pounded it out with an appropriate result. We've given the Vikes something to work with...but appear to have put in the costs about as low as we can go without blowing the deal. We can never know for sure...but it appears the political system worked pretty well when all is said and done.

Wait... those are the places in Wisconsin that people don't think are horrible?
For the record, as much as I hate that effing state, Milwaukee isn't such a bad place. It's hard to go wrong with German food and German beer, and I had a good time at the '06 F4 out there (when I wasn't badly hungover). :p

Re: Your new Los Angeles Vikings

These guys and gals need to be voted out. At worst I expect the reasonable house bill to be passed. These guys just gave the Vikes the $100 million right back. I expected better from no tax increase Republicans. The Senate bill is a disaster.

I mildly support the stadium.

But was surprised to see the senate bill come back significantly lighter than the house bill.

Re: Your new Los Angeles Vikings

If I have to be in WI, i'd prefer a town/city near the borders like LaCrosse or Milwaukee. So I can leave quickly back to civilization! :D
Chippewa Falls is a nice little stop and fairly close to the Minnesota border...with a tour of Jake's brewery a good way to spend some time. Also a number of vineyards with wine shops, small cheese factories with shops that sell directly to the public in western Wisconsin. Good cheese. ;)
