Ok, help me out with a dilemma here. A couple months ago, i sold my Blizzard hardtail frame on ebay to help defray the costs of the new fuill suspension rig. Hated to part with it, as it's a beautiful looking and riding bike, but I figured I needed the money more. Well, now the guy who bought it from me has it up for sale again, and I'm seriously considering buying it back. So should I, or am I just being a sentimental fool, suffering from seller's remorse?

Sep Vanmarke of Garmin wins the first "real" race of the season. Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (Volk). He initiated a break with Boonen and Flecha then out sprinted Tommke when Tommke opened the sprint too early.

In KBK, Cav takes an easy victory ahead of Hutrovich (FDJ). Good to see the racing back in Belgium. I think the next major races are Strade Bianchi and Paris-Nice.

Should be a good weekend of racing with Paris-Nice starting tomorrow, but first we have:

Edit: Cancellara perfectly counters a Van Avermart attack and solos in from 10K out. Beating Iglinsky and Gatto.

So as we move closer to the best cycling event(s) of the year, the Ronde and Paris-Roubaix, 2 nice stages races have concluded.

Bradley Wiggins won Paris-Nice with a decisive in on the Col d'Eze time trial over Lieue Westra.

And Il Squalo del Stetto Vincenzo Nibali beat the evergreen Chris Horner in the final TT at Tirreno-Adriatico.

Next up La Primavera Milan-San Remo.

Cance claims second again in Milan San Remo. It was a pretty cool finish, but Gerrans was too fast at the line. I love those finishes where a small pack is chasing a couple guys.

Boonen takes Gent-Wevelgem in a sprint from Peter Sagan and Matti Breschel. From what I could see and make out from the Flemish, Boonen began his sprint rather late and back in the pack, but once the early goers faded away, he powered his way through their remnants to the line.

Well one of the best weeks of cycling of the year is here! Tommeke takes the Ronde in a small group from Pozzato and Ballan. Cance decked it about 60 K from the line and broke at least his collarbone so he should miss Paris-Roubaiux next week. Supper pumped to see Boonen back and was hugely impressed by Pozzato, Sagan, and Chavanel.

Not a huge fan of the new course. The run-in after Paterberg seemed too long.

Boonen takes De Ronde for the 3rd time beating Pozzato in a sprint from a 3 man breakaway. Cancellara crashes out with a broken hip so he will be out of the Hell of the North next week.

Don't know what caused Cance to crash, it was right at the end of the feed zone, so maybe a touch of wheels or a bottle or bag in the spokes. Ballan went first a long way from the line, but Boonen chased him down and just kept going right on by to the line. Pozzatto was positioned perfectly right on his wheel to take Boonen in the sprint, but just couldn't come around him.

I liked the Old Kwaremont and Paterberg, but don't like messing with a race's traditions to try to make it more ad or crowd friendly. This climb sure was missed. It's hard on film to capture just how steep some of these climbs are, but I think this does a pretty good job. That, and the heavy breathing.

Read that Cance hit a bottle and ended up with a "triple" break in his collarbone. As for the Muur-Bosberg v. Kwaremont-Paterbrg, from what I've read, Kapelmuur and Kwaremont as pretty comparable in length and difficult (at least according to van Petegem) but Paterberg is harder then Bosberg. I did miss the Kapelmuur but my real problem was the length of the finishing straight. If they could knock 5 K off it would have been fine.

Someone tell me I'm doing the math wrong, but it looks like NBC Sports is showing Paris-Roubaix live from 9-11 EDT. But the time charts tell me that the Peleton will arrive in Arenberg somewhere between 8:24 and 8:51. How can you show P-R and not show the Trouvee? It is the best 5 minutes of cycling of the entire year. Am I converting the times wrong or will I have to watch on Eurosport/Sporza?

Not sure, but I got an email today from NBC Sports Network(the former Versus, I presume?) that told me to tune in and watch the Tour of Flanders live, with coverage beginning at 8:30AM. Too bad they couldn't have sent this out sometime before the event took place, then maybe I might have known about it and tuned in.

So it's possible they might be showing P-R live, maybe beginning around 7AM or even earlier. They start some of their TDF mountain stages at 6:30, so they might do so for someting like P-R.

In your time conversions, is Daylight Savings time accounted for?

Yeah, I'm in EDT ie it is currently 7:56 here and 1:56 in Roubaix, 6 hours, right? Race gets to
"Début de secteur pavé de la Trouée d'Arenberg (16)VC 14:25 14:37 14:51"
Times at the end are for average race speeds of 42, 40, and 38 KPH.

As for former Versus, this Sunday RvV was listed for 8:30 to 10:30, when I got home from mass at 8:30 it was on. This week P-R is listed for 9-11 (which fits since the race looks to end between 16:28 and 17:06). Plus the TV usually had the early morning TDF stages listed as starting early. I guess, I'll just have to watch it on Sporza (I felt dirty not listening to RvV in Flemish anyway). Easter Mass better not run late!

Also Cance had not a triple fracture but a quadruple fracture, but its fixed now. He'll be out for 5 or 6 weeks. Tommeke for 4 Hells of the North?

What I meant about daylight savings, is, and I'm not sure if this is the case here, but I've seen it with other European broadcast events, is that they either don't mention the time as Daylight Savings Time, or the country of origin doesn't use DST, in which case, the 8:30 time calculation would actually work out to be an hour later.

rufus, I hope you are right, but I doubt its as the finish time for the broadcast and the finish time on the time schedule line up. In brighter new, I've seen as high as a 60% chance of rain. P-R in the rain is fabulous. Remember the '02 Race with Museeuw out racing a very young Boonen and Wesserman? Or the huge number of crazy falls from Hincapie? And I think the 2001 edition had rain too with Knaven leading a Domo-Farm Frites (eventually QuickStep and then OPQS) sweep of the podium. Tommeke, Chava, Terpstra podium?!?

The easiest way around this is the tactic I take my dvr is set to record any cycling event on NBC Sports so I don't miss anything. Also had the same for unisport but for some reason it's been removed from my cable so I hope they don't have the Giro and the Vuelta this year.

I think this is the most impressive Paris-Roubaix I've ever seen! 52K solo? Wow!

Apparently the role of Fabian Cancellara will be played by Tom Boonen.

I wonder if he gets a Lion of Flanders helmet like Museeuw had.

The NBC Sports coverage was pretty uneventful. They joined with Boonen in front and he was never threatened.

They are actually replaying the race now. Including all the cobble sectors, especially Arenberg.

Still impressed by Boonen's strength and courage.
