Yale - The best team in the country?

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

Nope - I read your opinion loud and clear. I just disagree with it - and was trying to explain to you why it is perfectly reasonable to think that a team with a 10-1 record against Yale's schedule SHOULD be considered the #1 team in the country. I'm shocked - shocked! - that you're not open to considering my argument.

No you didn't because you didn't address my opinion. You went through a statistical analysis as to why it's ok for them to be 10-1. I don't give a rats asss if they are 10-1 or 10-3. Heck they could be 7-4 if they had played BC/BU/UMD/UND and that would be better then being 10-1 against teams that are by and large ranked under #30.

As for Crack, and the PWR ranking them number 1 despite such a poor schedule that may be due to 36% of their games are ignored since the teams suck so much that using the win would in fact lower their RPI..........Now, I'm sure a genius Cornellian could figure out that if you include those wins...thus lowering their RPI and in effect accounting for their weak schedule they would no longer be #1. Ergo, the SOS is not reflected because 4 of their 11 games are not being used. And neither will their next 2 either... Yale will be evaluated on 7 of 13 games becase their schedule is so weak that the wins lower their score.... By the time Tourney time rolls around they won't even have the requiste 10 games under TUC for that comparison to count...

So tell me again, how exactly KRach and PWR says their schedule makes them #1....by deciding to not use certain games?

Show me which games KRACH (my primary, non-parenthetical reference source) ignores, and then perhaps I can answer your question.

SHow me where your crack is...on second thought never mind. How about you look at and tell me what Krach says Yales record is.

Oh nevermind....
From Sioux Sports Krach

1 Up 1 Yale 211.9230 6-1-0 21.1923 Dec 5 Union Dec 8 Vermont

See that 6-1 record numbnuts.... that's what about 4 games less then 10-1?

Likely from ignoring games against Sacred Heart, Colgate, Qunni, and Cornell...

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

Not to justify the ranking one way or the other, but KRACH was designed not to have to ignore wins over bad teams. Don't know why Sioux Sports version is following the same rules as the RPI to calculate it. It recognizes Yale's SOS as 31st in the nation with the 10-1 record but it still comes up with the #1 spot taking that into account.

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

Tough to argue with any of JCs posts today.

While just about everyone knows Yale is not the best team in the country, I say let them have their moment here in December because they won't have it in NCAAs when the big boys step onto the ice. Then this thread can be put to bed, everyone can point and laugh at these yahoos, and Yale can head back to the kids table.

No idea why Sioux-Sports implementation ignores those games - if they're ignoring games, then that is not actually KRACH, as originally defined by Ken Butler and John Whelan.

And, if you knew half as much about KRACH as you think you do, you'd know that EVERY win ALWAYS raises a team's KRACH ranking - it's one of the beautiful properties of KRACH. Therefore, if Sioux Sports is throwing out 4 of Yale's wins, that means that they are artificially lowering Yale's ranking, not artificially raising it. So, even when Yale is being penalized by having its wins against bad teams ignored, KRACH still shows Yale as the #1 team.

Thanks for strengthening my point!

A beautiful property I guess if you play in a weak league. But kudos to you for being validated by a system that doesn't seed teams or mean much of anything in Dec. Oh and if you could, link me to that post where I claimed to know a lot about KRACH. Thanks

PS : So is the rumor that Yale will play host to the New Haven mites team for two next year true?

Should boost their KRach score...

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

No no no. They have Andover School of Trucking and Perkins School for the Blind in for a weekend set in New Haven next Christmas break.

Sounds like Maine's old early season tournament they recently stopped. I guess Bangor High couldn't fit it into their schedule

So you don't like the human polls, Pairwise or KRACH. How should we determine what teams qualify for the NCAA tournament?

Whomever has the most Schrute Bucks and Stanley Nickels at the end of the month shall be proclaimed El Numero Uno (that's spanish for the numero uno).

Dwight: Very good. You have earned one Schrute buck.
Stanley: I don't want it.
Dwight: Then you have been deducted 50 Schrute bucks.
Stanley: Make it a hundred.
Dwight: Wh...don't you wanna earn Schrute bucks?
Stanley: No. In fact, I'll give you a billion Stanley nickels if you never talk to me again.
Dwight: What's the ratio of Stanley nickels to Schrute bucks?
Stanley: The same as the ratio of unicorns to leprechauns.

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

I think we should use the BCS. No problems there.
