Yale - The best team in the country?

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

All of the other top 10 schools have BAD LOSSES - Yale does not.

I know this isn't your quote, but whatever you were quoting (what exactly was that)?

What's considered a bad loss?
New Hampshire lost two games, one at then #3 Miami (opening night) and one at then #2 Boston University.....

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

It'd be funny if Holy Cross beats Yale.

Can someone locate the "Who is Holy Cross? What kind of team will they bring to the ice?" post in a UNH thread last season? Now that was a funny post with an even funnier reply.

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

Yale being #1 is the same as Boise State being # 1 in football. Good for them, but they won't be anywhere the trophy when its handed out in St. Paul next April.

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

So, will Yale ever get around to playing someone, or is it just going to be a cupcake fest to the season's end? I like cupcakes and all, but if you have too many, you get delusional.

In your case, I have to ask whether you like having a cupcake or being one.

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

In season polls are like ****ing contests. In the long run, who cares really? WHCA fans claim Yale can't play vs their teams. Yale beats the snot out of CC and the excuse is that CC sucks this year. Yale plays Vermont tonight and, if Vermont is likewise spanked, the HE crowd will be excusing Vermont as a crappy team. I think Yale should play the like of BC, BU, Denver in season. Do these teams want to play Yale though? All leagues have their cupcakes after all.. Hopefully in the coming years these types of games will be on the schedule.

Yale sucked for a very long time until Allain came onboard. Winning matters. Winning your league first. Then winning the NCAA Frozen Four. Yale will have to go through several powerhouse teams if they expect to claim the crown in the Twin Cities. There'll be no excuses, no crap teams there, and only if they win the national championship will Yale get respect from the WHCA/HE crowd.

In Detroit huh?:p

If Yale wins the HE crowd will say Vermont is crappy? They have one FREAKING WIN!!!! A yale win isn't going to cement their status as a cellar dweller.... on the other hand should Vermont win it will cement Yales status as an overrated team.

A "lose/lose" proposition for Yale; as you said a couple of days ago. Excuses. It's OK bro. I understand being in denial is tough. Be strong. You'll get through it..

The losses would certainly help bring Yale down to earth (or their fans, at least) if they scheduled those teams during the season. But hey, those wins over the U14 Russia team are pretty cool too.

It's going to be a LONG time before the F4 is in Detroit again. So Yale has some time to prepare for their first NC title. :p

Non-conference matchups are typically scheduled well in advance, therefore you never know in some leagues if you will be getting a cupcake team or a tough team. Last year, Vermont shut out Yale in one game (one of 3 schools to do so last year, RPI and Brown being the others). This year, they have, as jcarter puts it, "one FREAKING WIN". Two years ago, BU won the national championship, whereas last year, they weren't all that hot. Insert Forrest Gump impersonation here.

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

Yale is bound to lose some more games this year. Won't be surprised if they got their ranking knocked down to #5 or lower. The BEST TEAM is the team that wins the Frozen Four.. Lots of contenders. Lots of pretenders. Only one winner in the end. Yale has got as good a shot as anybody else out there. No denying that..

Wow. That's profound. You moved me, man.

Well, since Minnesota is in the top half of the WCHA, and Wisconsin is in the bottom half, I like having them.

actually, playing too easy of a schedule will get you to the ncaa's, but it really doesn't prep you to beat many of the other good teams.
