Yale - The best team in the country?

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

Yale is bound to lose some more games this year. Won't be surprised if they got their ranking knocked down to #5 or lower. The BEST TEAM is the team that wins the Frozen Four...

In a one and done the best team often doesn't win a National Title. Has there been ever been a push to have a 3 game series in the playoffs?

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

All of the other top 10 schools have BAD LOSSES - Yale does not.
So, which Duluth loss is a BAD LOSS? The 4-2 loss at The Ralph, or the 5-4 loss in OT to Denver? I'm waiting. Oh, maybe the ****ing retard that wrote that article doesn't have a god**** clue.

I didn't realize Dullooth tied Lake Superior....they must be the top dog.

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

Well, since Minnesota is in the top half of the WCHA, and Wisconsin is in the bottom half, I like having them.

I'm not pretending to speak for UW fans, but they take 3 of 4 in your own rink, and they're cupcakes? Gophs have only played two games against a top 5 team in their own conference so far and have lost them both? Used to be teams made it a point to work out more before playing the gophers because they were so good--now they have to work out more afterward just to keep the weight off.

Playing Vermont tonight is a win-win for Yale fans actually. If they lose, Yale fans can say, "hey BC lost to UVM too so we're ok" and if they win... well, they won't have to take their hands out of their pants.

The butthurt is hilarious. I hope it lasts.

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

I was wondering.

At what point do the authors of Sioux Sports PWR ranking footnote 1 just write:

*Excluded Yale's 1 wins over Sacred Heart because their game RPIs (0.5663) would have lowered Yale's RPI (0.6109) Excluded Yale's 1 wins over Colgate because their game RPIs (0.5504) would have lowered Yale's RPI (0.6109) Excluded Yale's 1 wins over Cornell because their game RPIs (0.5913) would have lowered Yale's RPI (0.6109) Excluded Yale's 1 wins over Quinnipiac because their game RPIs (0.5971) would have lowered Yale's RPI (0.6109) Excluded Yale's 1 wins over, Ah, **** it. We just excluded all their wins.

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

To be the best you have to beat the best. Yale's schedule hasn't proven they are top notch. They arent a bad team but not the best team in the country.

You did it! Congratulations! World's best hockey team! Great job, everybody! It's great to be here.

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

Nice 3-0 shutout for Yale. Vt was better than advertised IMO, very similar to RPI, hard hitting and big.

Heard that a lot this year but it equals only 1 win....... We need the holiday break bad!!!! Congrats Yale. Keep it going. You guys gave BC the toughest game in NCAAs last year from what I saw and looks like you will be back this year....perhaps a little deeper.

No, actually the Vermont hockey team is a lot like vermont girls--big, dirty and always stuffing as many guys in their slot as possible. They missed so many opportunities I can't believe they don't always get shut out. How many pucks bounced off their sticks, skates, etc. I don't know if this year's Stalberg is related to the one from two years ago cause he sure don't play like it. Wish we got to play them again this year.

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

I'm a former player and longtime supporter of the program, and follow this forum . . . I hope people realize that 2-3 bandwagon/confrontational/obnoxious alleged Yale hockey fans do not speak for all of us. I think most of us are thrilled just to be mentioned regularly in the top 10, and while we are excited to be #1 in early December, understand that there is a lot of hockey yet to be played. I, for one, still see BC as the team to beat, though I like our Yale team very, very much. These past few years have been special ones at Ingalls, and very unusual for any Ivy team in recent history, much less our team which doesn't have the storied success of teams like Cornell and Harvard. I used to love to read the occasional Yale threads on this forum - far more quality than quantity - but I have to admit the tone of many of the recent threads, including this one, have led many to incorrectly assume that a few vocal and confrontationsl Yale fans speak for and represent all of us.

Apt quote: "If all the girls who attended the Harvard-Yale game were laid end to end, I wouldn't be surprised."

Good post and I acknowledge that this is going on. It is just fun banter for me that is not to be taken too serious outside of the forum.

Welcome aboard, I agree that there have been alot of defensive retorts from the Yale faithful as well as some antagonizing going on. It is all give and take and hopefully in my case good fun. To call people that you do not know "alleged fans" is unfair and a discredit to your otherwise tactful and insightful post. Unfortunately Yale will never be taken seriously by the fans of the larger division one programs of the WCHA and HockeyEast which leads to the bickering and cyberfights on this board, we are also quite outnumbered by a fairly entrenched band of holier than thou regulars (classy Ivies among them) who jump all over the mention of Yale as a top notch program. As a 30 year supporter of the program myself I am proud of the way Yale has been playing and have been vocal in my support on this board. The thing that disappoints me most is that there is a considerable lack of support for the program on this board by the Yale fans. I believe I can count our regular supporters on two hands with a finger or two left over. Please don't be a stranger and continue to post here, we need all of the support we can get.

Re: Yale - The best team in the country?

I will add also that hockeyjunkie10 only asked a question about Yale's status as the best team in hockey, he never proclaimed it, he just opened up the topic for debate. The funny thing is that I do not think any of the Yale fans posting have ever stated that Yale is the best team in America. 8/10ths of this thread is Yale bashing by other programs fans who did not bother to debate the subject, instead they just attacked. All I can say is that I am extremely proud of the way Yale has played and hope it continues.
