Yale Hockey 2014-2015. 138 miles to the ultimate goal.

Exhibition this Friday against Alberta. It will be interesting to see the new freshmen. Team leadership from Captain Tom Fallon and the other upperclassmen will be key. I expect a breakout season from Hayden as well. With a solid defensive corps and up and coming goalie, I believe top four in the league is a must this year. With a good solid season I can see Yale in the lower third of the bracket in March. Let's get this thing started!

Good luck Eli! Don't take this team lightly.

Well, guess I was right. Anyone attend the exhibition mess? Lots of injured scratches, hopefully just soreness from the first week of real practice.

Finally! The first game that matters. I hope the puck doesn't echo too much in "The Rock" tonight. Not many fans that i know of traveling to the game tonight. Going to head down on Sunday.

Great performances by both goalies tonight, except for one Lyon's out of position error. All CT final on Sunday, should be a good game.

I agree. They didn't look nearly as ragged as they did last year in the first game of this tournament. Looking forward to attending on Sunday.

Nice win Yale !!! Very very impressive skating ... Yale is BACK !!! Lyons looked very very strong in net again. You won the tournament. Something tells me it will not be your last.

Re: Yale Hockey 2014-2015. 138 miles to the ultimate goal.

Lyon was indeed the difference in a game that either team could have won. With two top forwards still out for Yale and the team still finding it's legs, we will gladly take the win. Looks like the ECAC will have more parity than ever this year, going to be a crazy season.

It’s obviously very early in the season, but I’ve gotten my season simulator fired up to see what KRACH says the final standings will be. I update every Sunday based on the week's games. Come have a look in the thread!

Per John Buccigross, Luke Stevens, son of Kevin, has committed to Yale starting in 2016.

That is indeed confirmed on Chris Heisenberg's 2015 list. Great pedigree and this Noble & Greenough stud is already 6'4 and 190 at the tender age of 17 !!!

So sick of the pedigree thing. This is the problem with most hockey recruiting today. Ever seen him play? Dad was great, but.......... give me a break, all this does is take opportunity from players far most skilled and far more deserving. whatever.

Worked out lousy for the Howes and the Sutters, some good reviews of his play on the recruiting sites. After seeing Yale against a bigger tougher team tonight, they could certainly use a little more size up front.

Re: Yale Hockey 2014-2015. 138 miles to the ultimate goal.

You know, I agree with all the "what-may-be's". I follow the recruits on all the websites, too.

I disagree that we need more size......yeah Hart and Weberg are small, but Allain has them on the 3rd line.

Hayden and DiChiara can bang whenever they want, but only DiChiara seems to.

Hitchcock is as deserving a chance as anyone else, but it was constant defensive breakdowns and misplays that cost the game. ( even the tie again seemed like a loss....but I'm just anotherr Bulldog fanatic)

I understand that new defensemen must be groomed...but the loser tonight was Larkins giveaway that turned into Witeks screening of Lyons. Even CU's second seemed to be a surprise to #34.

Clarksons Goalie played extremely well and though it seems Yale offense was lacking, they DID outshoot Clarkson by almost 2 to 1.

It is probably a result of inexperience as opposed to "size".

Fallen, et al, reversed the play consistently to the Clarkson forecheck....often without a White jersey in sight.

The new "studs" need to get back to playing positionally before they spread the blue fog on opponents.

Get on the half-board...wait for a good pass....THEN break it out.

This team is already talented enough...that's for sure......DISCIPLINE in all 3 zones is all that's needed.

Go Bulldogs !!!

All points well taken. I believe also that Yale needs more time to get cohesive lines together. The early season injuries to the the forwards have not helped in that respect. Although, as you say, the team is talented enough, I still see a lack of a proven finisher on any line. i would love to see players like Orzetti and Beattie use their size and strength more in the corners, to create more cycling opportunities for Yale. I like that Hayden is playing with an edge, and seems to be trying to involve his linemates more, i think he will continue to mature well this year. I agree that Witek and Larkin had a horrible night and were probably the main reason Yale did not get the two points.
