Yale Hockey 2010

Re: Yale Hockey 2010

I loved your team tonight. I was uncertain until I saw the first few minutes and every BC puck carrier was hassled, and the Yale forwards were flying. Very impressive outing. Congratulations. Your program gained many fans this weekend.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010

I think tonight's game should clear things up for you.

Well said Tim. I said back in January after Yale's visit to Bright that they were not going anywhere without quality netminding (mediocre goaltending cost them a win that night). Obviously it was missing tonight and that's really strange considering Allain is a former goalie. Defensive breakdowns also didn't help. Yale has a lot of speed and offensive skill but they are really lacking on the back end.

The other big problem that Yale and to a larger extent all ECAC teams face when participating in the NCAAs is the speed and physicality of teams from other conferences. We just don't see that week in and week out. BC sees that quality of play consistently whether in conference or out of conference and it sets them up for a deep run to the Frozen Four most every year. Same for BU in a normal year for them.

BU has made one Frozen Four appearance since 1998.

Yale never quit, never put their heads down. What a great regional by them and they definitely won a fan in me. They are clearly well coached and well led. Best of luck to you guys next year and hope you guys can replace your great senior class that the announcers had so much to say about

As a reporter who was in Worcester this weekend, I just wanted to congratulate you guys on a great season. This was the first time I got to watch Yale this year, and they were a lot of fun to watch. More importantly, Allain and the players were the epitome of class after both the win and the loss. I couldn't help but admire the way Arcobello, Dignard and Donald handled themselves after today's game.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010

Bravo, Yale. You did a solid job this season. We'll miss you, senior class, the most successful senior class in Yale history. Mr. Allain, you're beginning to show signs of being one of the best coaches in college hockey.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010

Congratulations on the successful season, Bulldogs. I hope that the effort you displayed this weekend caused some critics to retract their thoughts about you and the league as a whole, and you represented the ECAC with class and great play.

I really want to hope you guys can recruit a solid keeper, but that would make you even tougher to beat in the regular season.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010

Congrats on a great season Yale . I enjoyed watching your team in the tourney. Classy team and coach. I have the feeling we will be hearing more from your program in the future :)

Re: Yale Hockey 2010

Awesome job, Yale. Your team is truly scary. For the record, its great to see an ECAC team who can skate and doesn't rely on the trap to win.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010

Well, I hope Yale can recruit a good goalie soon, but if you were a hot prospect, would you want to sit behind that defense?

Re: Yale Hockey 2010

Does anyone have a video of Sunday's post-game interviews of the Student-Athletes? Found the coach ones and all the Saturday ones. Very good comments all around.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010

Was behind you guys 100% and really enjoyed watching you in the two games. We all know that better goaltending and not having Backman injured could have been a huge difference.

As a league rival, I won't miss some of your guys. They are just too good and were tough to beat. But, kudos to Allain and staff for playing an exciting brand of hockey that is fun to watch and for showing no quit even with some of the discouraging goals against from BC. It will be tough to replace this years Senior class at Yale, but was surprised at how much Yale has coming back. Congrats on a big win against North Dakota (huge accomplishment!!), an impressive season.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010

What a crazy game, glad to Yale and the ECAC getting a little respect, the goalie thing will much the issue in the off season. I am not sure about our new recruits, but we still have some speed and power left, Donald will be hard to replace defensively, our only real player with any size besides Laganierre, maybe we can convert him to Defense.

Thanks for an enjoyable season Yale see ya next year at Ingalls.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010

Just a great game to watch, but really deflating to be on the Yale side of things. Three BC goals come to mind as just being inexcusable:

1) The heartbreaking Sneep clear from the BC zone

2) Rondeau not coming out and playing the puck away on BC's 3rd goal

3) Blase giving up that very weak goal on Jow Whitney's slap shot (I think this was BC's 5th or 6th goal).

All three of those goals were just terrible goals to give up, particularly at this level and in that setting. Inexcusable in a way.

I actually think Yale has more offensive talent than BC and that is saying a lot. We all know that for Yale, it was going to come down to goaltending and unfortunately, that is what did them in yesterday.

One can only wonder would would have happened if the 3 goals above did not happen - 99% of goalies (even at the high school level) save all three of those.

Nontheless, Yale deserves a lot of props. Just a real fun team to watch!

Re: Yale Hockey 2010

October 1, 2009 Well they return a very solid core from last season which is a good place to start. Obviously the most important thing we'll see in the next few weeks is who wins the battle to replace Richards. Blase has performed pretty well in net and Rondeau will definitely give him a good battle for that spot.

Congrats to Yale on their best season ever.
Yesterday's game showed pure heart and determination. Unfortunately, we didn't have a goalie whose skills came anywhere near that of the rest of the team. I think much of the blame for that has to go on Allain. He has turned this program around, but clearly failed this year in finding a goalie with the skills and confidence to lead us further. I'm sorry but you simply can't rotate 4 goalies in and out over the course of the year and never make a decision. By the end, none of them had any confidence and without confidence (no matter how skilled) a goalie is doomed.
The loss of what is unarguably our greatest class ever- Donald, Arcobello, Dignard, and Backman will be hard to replace.
That said, if we can find a goalie with skills and give him confidence, and some D, then with the likes of Little, Miller, Kearney and O'Neill, there is no doubt our offense will remain potent.

Thanks again boys for a great year! You did Yale proud this weeked.

I agree with you on the goals against. I guess my memory is going as I thought it was Blaise in net that should have come out...maybe it was Rondeau. Yale had some goal scorers for sure...Little, Kearney, Arcobello and Backman are all studs.

Definitely a fun team to watch and just a real frustrating way to go out. Anyone that discredits Yale overall and especially their offensive abilities really has no idea what they are talking about.
