LTsatch: I have enjoyed reading your comments on the Brown-Yale games this past weekend. I'm glad to see that there are still some classy and knowledgeable posters on this board.

Thanks, I think some of the acrimony ( of which some was self invited by some Yale fans) and the Cahill non-event along with Yale being ranked number one has taken this thread very far away from it's original intent, which was to discuss the Yale hockey team and this season. Now that Yale has lost a game and is back to earth, maybe we can get back to discussing the team and what is wrong/right with it. I think Yale is extremely talented and capable of some incredible scoring outbursts, but when that team like Brown comes along and clogs the lanes and hits a little harder and digs the corners like they did , Yale steps back and says, how can this be happening and does nothing to counter. I've watched two games on the internet this year, Air Force and Brown, both games third periods were almost identical except for the goal totals, Yale was physically beaten and just did not respond. Defensive mistakes are also becoming an issue with the team and they need to take care of the puck better. Little has been rather snakebit lately, uncharacteristically missing open chances and shooting wide often. Kearney and O'Neill have been a little shaky as well. The team needs to get back to basics, forecheck and pass efficiently, get rid of some of the flash and get back to substance. I am sure Allain will have them practicing hard this week, the meat and potatoes of the schedule is happening and if they are not ready to grind it out, the losses may keep coming.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

I think all of us Yale fans can agree that LT should not be allowed to watch anymore games on the internet.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Disagree...every team has some dry spots here and there.

They've only lost twice & just came off a 10 game winning streak.

As long as Rondeau makes the saves he needs to make, they'll be fine.

I watched both games too & attended several others - agree that the team needs to keep working, but they have more talent up & down.

A hot goalie can beat ANY team on any given night & if it's a 1 goal game, then 1 bad bounce can change things...as it did with 46 sec. to go last night.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

I was also at the game on Sunday. My observations are as follows:
1. Brown is not a patsy team. Their first line can skate with almost anyone. Their captain, Harry Z, is the fastest guy I have seen all year (and I have been to about ten games this year). They dispatched BU and had great efforts against other leading teams.
2. Our guys couldn't get into a passing rhythm for most of the game. With the exception of the first half of the 3rd period, our passes were rarely hitting their targets, and/or getting intercepted. In fact, Rondeau played a great game given the number of grade-A shots he turned away on odd man rushes (imho).
3. It was gratifying to see the Yale fans showing up on the road. There were definitely more Yale fans than Brown fans there (not saying much, I admit). But the support was there.
4. Overall, we were just flat. I agree with whoever (LT?) said that Little seems to have lost some mojo. We were not in our groove yesterday and Brown deserved to win. In fact, the winning goal was a great steal by the Brown captain and then he just outskated the Yale defensemen to the crease.
Finally, Brown just seems to have our number, kind of like the way we have beaten Cornell so many consecutive times recently (is it 5 or 6 now?). They came to play and played very aggressively and hard (too hard in the case of some of the penalites they took) and we never could play our style of for most of the game.

"I think all of us Yale fans can agree that LT should not be allowed to watch anymore games on the internet."

And I had the privledge to spend seven dollars for each loss on that lousy B2 feed.
I have witnessed two internet wins at Anna Liffeys though!

Yeah, but then he might start surfing some other more questionable sites & get in trouble...:-)

Yeah, like on Dirty's UND blog.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

I was at the game as well and everything elihockeyfan says is dead on. One other troubling note: I sat a couple of rows behind Jeff Anderson (at least I'm pretty sure it was Jeff) and he still has a big cast-boot on. While he was described during the Holy Cross telecast as rehabbing and expected back this season, it sure doesn't look like it's any time soon. And LT, tickets at the game were only five bucks. So the internet feed was more expensive!

Actually blue, I had two tickets to the game which I could not attend due having to attend a friends wake. So, it actually cost me $22.00 to see the Eli's lose.

RIP Greg Giaquinto,a good guy and a good hockey player for West Haven High back in the day, lost to cancer at 51.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

I've been at the past 4 games we've played (Dartmouth, Harvard, Brown x2) and we just haven't looked like our pre-break selves. If it weren't for Dartmouth missing many wide open shots and getting back in the groove for the 3rd against Brown on Saturday, we might have seen a couple more losses.

Again, what elihockeyfan said was dead on. Even though we lost it in the third, the second looked even worse--we didn't really get a single sustained non-powerplay forecheck, while Brown was pinning us deep in our zone. In addition, let's not forget that a home-and-home is difficult to sweep, especially when Mike Clemente seems to have our number.

Hopefully, this loss will do the same as the Air Force loss and whip us back into shape.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Should be a couple of tough and exciting games this weekend, I will be attending both. Don't know much about either Clarkson or SLU but from the little I have read about them they are both dangerous teams having knocked off highly ranked opponents this season. time for Yale to get back to their signature style of play. I hope having the coach back full time and a full week of practice at home will help the team come together and rid them of the recent doldrums.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

The self loathing is terrible:p, Unfortunately it is the only defense I have against my Dakotan Yale haters. I don't see many Yale fans threadcrapping your season discussion, so please move on.

Look at his sig. Unless NoDak won NC's in '49, '01, '08 and '10, I don't think he's a Sue fan. :p

I understand that, but the last sentence still stands. BC fans have always been classy about their win over Yale last year. You won't see me in the BC season thread. I know better:D

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Just got this email from Yale ticket office

A limited number of general admission and standing-room-only tickets are available for the Clarkson game; the St. Lawrence game is Sold Out.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Big weekend! Hoping to see some Yale hockey tonight, not that nonsense we saw in Providence.

Clarkson always plays Yale tough, though. Don't consider this game over until triple zero.
