Yale: Cheating their way to #1?

Re: Yale: Cheating their way to #1?

Whotheeff is Robert Morris and why do you guys let them create drama for the almighty NoDak?

Robert Morris is a team that would be a "signature win" for Yale given their schedule this year. ;)

It certainly looks like this whole deal has been blown out of proportion. It seems that some of the other coaches in ECAC got wind of what happened and filed a complaint. The NCAA took a look and said all is well. Move on.

Nice wins by Yale this weekend.

Re: Yale: Cheating their way to #1?

But its perfectly okay for US college players to play with and against NHL-experienced, signed pros in the World Junior tourney, and be coached by Yale's coach in the process....

Just curious, who were the NHL experienced players in the WJC this year?

Re: Yale: Cheating their way to #1?

Brayden Schnenn and Robin Lehner both played in the NHL this year. I'm sure there are others too.

Re: Yale: Cheating their way to #1?

Kyle Palmeiri has played with the Anaheim Ducks, Nino Neiderreiter with the Islanders and Jared Cowen with the Senators in addition to those already mentioned. Also, college players play with "pros" during summer evaluation camps all the time. Not sure where that falls in with ncaa rules.

Re: Yale: Cheating their way to #1?

If this is proven, then Yale* should receive the same penalty that Maine did in the early 90's.

At the NHL summer camps/ evaluations NCAA states a player can be there for exactly for 48 hours with out loosing eligibility

Re: Yale: Cheating their way to #1?

NHL summer camps are allowed with certain considerations... the players have to pay their own way to the camps, and I believe can only participate for 72 hours. Could be more or less time, not sure the specifics).

and it used to be ok for pros to play for Denver. So what?

Re: Yale: Cheating their way to #1?

Yale didn't get in trouble with the NCAA though. They would've but then they built the NCAA an international airport.

Re: Yale: Cheating their way to #1?

So what are the NCAA rules on all this? Did Cahill have to get a redshirt ..or is he allowed by the NCAA to just take a year off to work on his game and then come back to the team? I'm aware that some players spend a year (or so) in college and then go back to juniors before transferring to another school, so is this the same sort of thing?

That's probably something the NCAA needs to look into...
