Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

My understanding is the number 1 seed gets the 4:00 game

This is how it's been done as far as I can remember and is the basis for the matchups we show on our possibilities chart (link). Theoretically gives the top seed the extra rest before Saturday's game, assuming they win.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Thanks. I've done some more simulations and it appears that the crucial game separating 5th and 8th is Providence-UNH. Go Friars!

From Nadine at Yale Athletics---------- Atlantic City - here we come! Info on bus, hotel and Schley Room on the Road will be available sometime Monday afternoon. Will post contact info when we have it. What a weekend. So glad they got it done in 2! Go Bulldogs!!!

Yale Mens Hockey Facebook page has the updates as well http://www.facebook.com/groups/78312317064/

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

And QPac is the top seed in double OT, and will face Brown. Yale-Union in the other semi

Priceless thinks us safe for the NCAAs, and I think he is probably right. I wanted to correct a few things I said yesterday which are wrong, however. I think Yale can possibly pick up the comparisons with BC and Minnesota, though both would be tough. The NoDak comparison now cannot be flipped. But that does mean that a one seed is possible if we win two. Still a long shot, but possible.

Edit: I spoke too fast. Priceless has figured out a path by which two losses eliminate us.

For you optimists, here's at least one path that gets Yale to the 3rd overall seed. I think that's the best Yale can do (oh, and the NoDak comparison can be flipped -- this does it):

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

There is a post on the Yale Facebook page that states the other side of the coin is an unlikely 4th in the pairwise. It' amazing that with only two games left that Yale has the potential to be a one seed or out of the tourney completely, I think the most likely case is that we land somewhere in between.

And for the pessimists, here's a path where we're out: we finish 16th, and a couple of autobids leave us in the cold.

Yeah... somewhere between 3rd and 18th. Amazing. But you are correct sir, the odds greatly favor somewhere in between. Just booked my trip down to AC... very happy to be playing in the late game so I can make it in time, or at least by the 1st intermission, depending on traffic. Hope to meet everyone there.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Well, I guess I will be rooting for QU in the first game then :( We are booked at the Tropicana for $129 a night. Very exciting game at QU last night, I am glad to see both CT teams in the finals of the ECAC's. Did anyone send that case of beer to Colorado College yet?

For Yale the biggest game this weekend will be Friday night. We win that game and we are in the NCAAs. Saturday then turns into a chance to win ECAC Championship, get a high seed, and have some fun. We loose Friday night and suddenly with another loss it is very possible that we don't even see the NCAAs. Union is a tough and seasoned team. Should be a good game, but Allain has been able to get the boys playing there best at this time of year. Let's hope for more of that Friday.....and no running around Payne Whitney gym late-night.
