Yale Bulldogs 2018-2019

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2018-2019

Leave it to Yale to take what should have been a rout and make it interesting. A win is a win, I guess.

SLU goalie with fifty saves, weird second goal on Tucker. It sure made things interesting. No easy games this year. Capitol Area next week, have to pay back Union. Not sure why Hall hasn't been playing.

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2018-2019

Made it interesting again, although Yale did not play all that well. The last RPI goal should have never happened. Kaczperski, had it covered and should have sat on it so it couldn't be poked in. Could have been a great weekend.

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2018-2019

Ironically Yale is now tied for first in the ECAC with Cornell, but has dropped to 23rd in the PWR. Only way in the national tourney at this point is to win the ECAC tourney, staying in the top four of the ECAC will be the most important thing going forward. Three games with Cornell and QU going forward will decide Yales fate.

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2018-2019

Team is struggling but not playing poorly from start to finish. Hopefully something they can work through and get in gear, again. Holiday break seemed to kill their momentum. Too many breakdowns at each end of the ice. Snively and O'Neil may be pressing. However, they still make everyone better. St. Ivany may be experiencing the freshman blues although sooner than one would expect. World Juniors may have stretched him. Curtis Hall not playing and gaining experience is unfortunate. Goaltending continues to be average. Expect more from Allain with recruiting the position. In all of his years, one star in Lyon. Still feel there is enough talent at Forward and D to have some success. The sum is better than the parts sort of thing. Must beat Brown next weekend then a telling road weekend at Q and Princeton.

As far as next year in goal it looks like Kaz and McNab and possibly Hopkins. Elite Prospects does not have Connor Hopkins coming in until 2020, but Heisenberg has him coming in next year. Hopkins stats are pretty good in juniors.

Not my intent to place too much blame on the goaltending. They don't deserve to be disparaged. Certainly not a lack of effort and both have had their moments. The D and Forwards need to be more accountable, as well. I believe they will be.

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2018-2019

It's been a while since a Brown-Yale game meant anything, but with you guys tied for first and us just four points back, this one feels big. Looking forward to a good one tomorrow night.

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2018-2019

Like most of the ECAC this year, it depends if Jekyll or Hyde shows up for either team. Except for Cornell and QU, not much consistency in the league this year.

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2018-2019

Trying not to be negative, but when was the last time Yale scored last. It seems like any lead in the third period is always tenuous. Brown was a bit unlucky. How many times did they hit the pipe, three?

Not that I thought Yale deserved to lose, they didn't. Big night for Snively, too.

I missed what happened with the goal that was disallowed. Offside? Was it obvious?

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2018-2019

I had just tuned in when they mentioned the disallowed goal for off sides. Not sure why Yale is failing to protect leads, maybe the young D-Corps is tiring. They need to turn that around or they will have no chance in Hamden next week. Going up for my annual torture session on York Hill, lol. Kaz, two games in a row, wonder who will play in goal going forward.

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2018-2019

No penalties against Brown. Not that they played a dirty game but there are always things to call and you can usually count on the refs to find a way to even things up.

For most of the last 10 years Yale has dominated in the 3rd period as their depth at forward has worn down the opposition. This season the opposite has been happening. They can't seem to maintain possession in the offensive end late in the game. This is puzzling -- if you go down the roster it's hard to find anyone to blame. But something needs to be fixed.

As far as the refs, one word , Taggert, he hates Yale.

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2018-2019

Well, the penalty killers did their job.

It must be the curse of the championship. Just about every year since 2013, Yale saves their worst performances for QU

Dead link, hopefully a good sign. Most important game of the season for Yale at this point. Lose tonight and forget about the Pairwise route to the playoffs. Team is at full strength entering the game, who knows about which goalie will play.

I'll be at hobey tomorrow. should be a good hard game all around.
