The UEFA boycott will continue. It wants assurances that Infantino's scheme will never be implemented, which hasn't happened yet. It reiterates that it no longer has confidence in Infantino.

The Jordan FA has finally been paid the money it was owed but the prince says he will never support Infantino again.

President Donald Trump defended FIFA president Gianni Infantino amid backlash over his handling of a plan to sell an interest in the World Cup, warning soccer federations they would make a "terrible mistake" if they force out Infantino.

In a message posted to Truth Social on Monday night, Trump said FIFA would "never be as successful or profitable" without Infantino.

"FIFA would be making a terrible mistake if, for any reason, they even considered replacing President Gianni Infantino," Trump posted.
 
The rumored reason why Mexico has broken with CONCACAF is that Infantino will help Mexico leave CONCACAF and join CONMEBOL. Not really a surprise as the Mexican clubs have long wanted to be able to play in the Copa Libertadores again.
 
I assume there’s an exit fee or something they’re trying to avoid from CONCACAF? Or is this lobbying CONMEBOL to let them join? Seems like they would want them given it would add another competitive team and market. And with the WC likely expanding again it’s not like it would make the qualifying road tougher.

There’s no exit fee AFAIK but it would require approval from FIFA.

Most of CONMEBOL really doesn’t want Mexico in or Mexico would’ve joined years ago. Mexican teams were playing in the Libertadores and Sudamericana years ago and were pretty successful. The reality is that Mexico itself doesn’t add as much value compared to what the other countries, especially countries like Chile, Ecuador, and Bolivia, would lose.
 
Not sure where else to post this, but I know we've talked about him in here before: Did Mike Barlow get in trouble for his Offside page? It's been dead since May 18 and with summer being youth sports season this is certainly the time for a glut of outrageous coaches and parents.

I haven't heard anything.

I will say, even though I've been a referee a for years, I can't stand that guy. He comes across a fascist-esque grifter that's more about his "brand" than actually helping with anything. The absolutism is stupid too. I get that there are asshat parents and coaches, but there's also plenty of asshat referees too. Open communication and constructive discussion is far far more helpful with development of officials than his absolutist "there's no reason to ever talk to an official" bullshit.

Also not a fan. He’s far more interested in pushing the brand than the messaging. Prior to going dark he started putting his own bumper at the end of videos that was like a minute long, often longer than the clips themselves. Like you said, the absolutism breeds hypocrisy. He preached positivity towards youth officials, but then amplifies coach and parent complaints on FB and sets a vigilante mob on them.

I’m also curious what his end goal in officiating is. He travels all over to officiate soccer tournaments, but there’s no way any NCAA assignor is going to deal with the headache of having an official on staff whose job outside of officiating is being an internet troll. But maybe he got an ultimatum from someone and that’s why he went dark.

But, it was a good aggregator for crazy youth and rec sports videos.
 
That's an interesting observation about Barlow/Offside. I never put 1 and 1 together until you said something. But yea, it's been an empty Summer on that front for Baseball content.

That said, I'm probably in the minority in that I agree with a lot of the points he makes. But I also fully believe officials (in all sports) owe nothing to youth sports and feel that, as a whole, we need to use the word "No" more often when pushing for better pay/conditions/etc. With me, there absolutely is zero "for the kids" mentality.

To be fair, I do agree with this. There does need to be pushback towards the “for the kids” mentality..

Probably USL-2 which any decent referee within distance of a team can be a referee on. NCAA D1 is the same if you can cozy up to an assignor, though it's a lot of more difficult with the advent of organizations like ECSR.

To be fair, from what I've heard he is a pretty decent referee, not too dissimilar from any other Regional level referee, but definitely not a National guy and he can be annoying to work with.
