World Soccer XXXI: Golden Generation?

US plays on Canada day and Canada plays on US Independence Day.

I was just watching a video about who would make great hosts for future years and they mention that Europe, Africa and South America can't host again until 2042, Asia 2046...so...us again in 2038? Or is Infantino hoping Lil Hitler will have stadia on Mars by then that can host the new Universe Cup?
First off, RIP to you for having to sit through the rambling mess that is an HITC Sevens video.

2030 is slated to be held in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco with a single game to be held in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay each. It's a move that was a officially a concession to celebrate the 100th year of the World Cup but was really a way to clear 2034 for Saudi Arabia.

Given FIFA's requirement of at least 16 different stadiums of 45k capacity and the current Confederation rotation policy, really only the US can realistically host in 2038 as UEFA, CONMEBOL, Africa, and Asia would be barred from bidding. Oceania could bid but there's no realistic way for any of them to host (New Zealand doesn't have a stadium with the 80k capacity to host the final, let alone enough stadiums).

Honestly, given the requirements, there's very few countries that could host alone. Even dual joint bids might not work, for example England would require stadiums in Scotland and Wales to help and even Germany and France would likely need help.

Saw Morocco is going to build a 115k stadium in Casablanca to try to get the final in 2030. Camp Nou or Bernabéu would be the likely hosts otherwise.
*Remembers the chaos of the AFCON Final in Morocco*

Yeah, that might not be a great idea. Probably will be at the Bernabéu anyway, they didn’t put that expensive ass roof for nothing.

It’ll be interesting to see who actually wants to host in the future. Like everyone talks about China hosting but China seems to have zero interest in it.

It's too bad because China would make incredible hosts. I was critical of giving them the Olympics because of human rights abuses, but glass houses and all... They have the infrastructure already in place and their high speed rail between cities puts us to shame. But yeah, there is 0 interest in being hosts.

Well, it doesn’t help that China is kind of an economic mess right now because of the Evergrande bankruptcy. And it doesn’t help that soccer is a mess in China, mostly because Evergrande was the owner of what was the biggest club in the country and said club was dissolved with Evergrande’s bankruptcy.

Casemiro scores just past the Midway point to level it. Momentum has definitely changed.
Vini is hoping this turns into a Turkey Shoot.

And right on cue he comes an inch from scoring....
