World Soccer XXXI: Golden Generation?

US/Paraguay drew just shy of 16 million viewers on Fox yesterday. By far the most watched USMNT match ever and the 2nd most watched FIFA match ever in the US (for an English broadcast).

As much shit as we want to give FIFA about ticket prices and all the surrounding BS, it's hard to deny their plans when the Meadowlands is full (80% Yellow 20% Red)...

FIFA was able to make their money with no hindrance to the plan.

Eh, it’s Brazil. The big dogs will sell out. Go back to Day 1 Korea-Czechia and see the empty seats.

Attendance in other locations has not been as strong. It was so noticeable at the QAT-SUI game even my mother asked if those were empty seats.

This is from the earlier game in Santa Clara (officially 98.7% sold out). Looking for a good image of midfield, but it was essentially empty 10 minutes into the 2nd half. And no, they weren't in line for food. Those are category 1 seats with in-seat service. If I had shelled out $2500 or more for a ticket, I'd sure as hell be in my seat to watch the game.

Those are also seats in direct sunlight on a hot day so that should be taken into account.

That match was mostly sold and attended however... There were no major gaps early on in the 1st half. Where people went after that, who knows. And as far as I'm aware, FIFA isn't using seat fillers.

You know that Gianni Infantino isn't going to give you a cut of the profits for polishing his knob, right?

Tickets were way too expensive. Fans can't go. FIFA dumped a shitload of tickets on seatgeek at reduced prices and they still didn't sell.
